| I can't believe people are so paranoid about samples being on the net....believe me, labels dont care if there are 128k full tracks with the ending/beginning faded or a 192k sample flying about.. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL.... some of the biggest tracks of this/last year were all over the net before they were signed...its rediculous and a 32kbps mp3 is taking the piss, how can you expect to get feedback on that pile of e quality. |

I know plenty about it, why do you think labels are turning to putting downloads up at promon stage? (eg, ozgur can's 'reclaim ep')
the paranoia is funny, hasn't haak's frenzy just had a massive armada release? dispite being all over the net/these forums over a year ago? didn't the exact same thing happen with masters and nickson? I think so, these were full tracks too.
I know loads of big label owners, not one of them has even considered not signing tracks due to a 128k SAMPLE or 96kbps FULL track with faded beginnings and endings being floated on the net, if anything it will create a buzz and influence a label to pick it up, which is what has happened in many cases.
by posting a 32kbps mp3 on these forums, you're just taking the piss.
if a dj has been playing a 96kbps mp3 of your track, the 1st thing you do is email/call them telling them they are a fool and if they do it again, without permission, action will be taken....then, you laugh, because someone really must be sad & pathetic to play an mp3 live of that quality in a set.
people just need to chill and stop being so uptight. |

am i missing something here.... isn't this track in 192kbps??
why are people still complaining? (i can understand if it was 32) but where is that 32kbps version anyways? |

Two examples just dont do it for me, Im sorry.
A bedroom DJ / filesharer wouldnt hesitate for a second to play it out on clubs / redistribute 128 kbps as 192 kbps in mp3 group releases. This is a massive problem for all labels. Most times they dont know its out on the internet at first, thats why some releases are getting out way later than the appearance on the internet. If they would've known, you can be pretty sure it wouldnt get a release at all.

george: it mainly has to do with the hype of tracks.
if a track gets to much exposure to early then people just wont rush to buy it as much as if the hype procedure would have gone as planned. So in other words, if the label know that it's out in high qual it prolly won't be as easy to get signed.
now there is of course cases where it has ended up well like with frenzy for example but there are also examples of when it hasn't been a good thing (if I'm not remembering all wrong i think özgur fell victim for this when one of his tracks were leaked. I'm not 100% shure about it tho)
well anyway I guess you get what I mean. :) |

yes fair enough, theres also vandit too, they seem to be successful enough, even after holding back some releases for years...it really doesn't matter anywhere near enough as people believe. and yea I know what you're saying jezper, however to post a track here in 32kbps or to post a tiny sample in 192kbps where as you said yourself, you get nothing is taking the piss a little. Anyways like you say you could fade in and out the 1st and last minutes or put a vocoded copyright in there so people cannot play the track. |

Yeah, but that you also gotta add the fact that you dont wanna give the whole track away. In 32, people get a rough idea of what the track sounds like, yet there are more from them to expect from the track. If i put the whole track out in good quality with copy right sample or faded intro and outro, people basically hears the whole track. Then there isnt anything more about this track that they would wait for. With a lofi that you like, you'd be more eager to hear the hifi version, and thats also kind of the point. If they all hear it in hifi, they dont have anything more to expect from the track!
