Max knows who the promo's went to and the guy who did this mix was not one of them.

Yep. That's why sandstorm's post confused me.

What a bonehead move using a rip of a yet to be released tune to promote yourself on a forum where many of the artists probably lurk even if they aren't registered members.

does max graham now have nothing better to do than trawl the internet looking for illegal mp3's...

This sort of thing is going to happen, just accept it.

Im not condoning ripping/ reconstructing tracks as im sure its very irritating for the artist but it will happen and there isnt too much that can be done about it.

Coming on and boasting about how you 'got him' is just as sad imo.

i definately agree that the problem is playing a track he didn't get legally, then recording it & sending it to people. But this is all caused by ripping tracks to the net, since he obviousely did not obtain a promo vinyl/cd, and the label/max did not send it to him. If you have a legal mp3 and feel like playing go for it.

like that sucks...

Just a note to Neo or anyone who mods the amateur dj's forum, Neos post warning him of suspension still contains the link within the quote.

you might want to get rid of that :p

if you apply the same logic, then i can quite happily steal your car or burgle your home, that sort of thing is going to happen, just accept it . . . does not make it right thou (yes i know u said u dont condone it but look at it from both sides).

we have police forces who try to prevent others stealing your property or catch those that have, members of the public help the police out, so apply the same logic again, max and the riaa for example have a valid reason for preventing the use of illegal mp3.

I'm sure you didn't even think about someone ripping it out of one of your sets. That sucks, Max.

I will assume that you don't make a living as an artist. You ask if he has nothing better to do than "trawl" the internet. Do you? Seriously. Did it ever occur to you that Max might read through the forums regarding tracks, mixes, shows, and whatever else may pertain to him in order to give and receive feedback? Should he be like other artists and make himself inaccessible and act like he is too good to come onto a message board? Get over yourself. It was his track that was ripped...not yours. He has a right to get pissed if he wants. Music is his passion and how he makes a living.

Good looking out, Neo. ;)

err

there is a slight difference i think. For a start stealing a car is a criminal offence... whereas breach of copright isnt. Downloading an mp3 doesnt even fall under breach of copyright and its a very grey area (different rules for diff countries etc...)

but anyway

like most of these websites... TA is 'associated' with a hub where users can download music, yet publicly everyone is very 'anti mp3'. I just think its a bit hypocritical when an artist comes on complaining about something, then everyone agrees with him, when theyve probably all downloaded the track anyway.

Im sure you have a lot of mp3's on your computer, just as everyone else does. The only difference is that you have the wit not to include these tracks in any set / cd that you would produce. Just because you dont talk about it doesnt mean it doesnt happen. That was my point.
