At what bitrate do you call mp3s acceptable? Or... Do you only BUY :nervous: your records??

I have f*cking no idea if this is posted before:D
the button on this one!
pnuemo
i always encode at 192. it works fine for me.
Shahar
192Kbps is enough...
Mattsanity
320 KBPS

Simply the best
TweeK
192

It's not all about the bitrate, the encoder used makes quite a difference as well. A crap encoder will make even 320kbps mp3 sound crap whereas a good encoder can make a 112kbps mp3 sound good.

That's true, however I recognize it merely as some crackle and probably also distortion but NOT in general. They're "Little errors" that are pretty anoying!

most of the mp3s ive ripped off my CDs are 128 to save space. anything less than that. when i have room to spare though, i go to 225

I guess I second that. However, I once listened to a 128 kbps mp3 version of Dido - Don't Leave Home. And when I really focus on the high-hats, I'm like...:nervous:

The majority of mine are 192 kbps

Almost every track which I use is in 192 Kbps bitrate and the quality is good, so I think it's enough...:)

192 for me.

I use iTunes for my encoding btw.

I can still listen to 128, but it's noticably different for me. 192 sounds good enough to me, it's not quite wav or vinyl quality but it's decent, and I don't want to take up any more space on my disk.
