For DJs, I've only heard of Satoshi Tomiie, Yoji Biomehanika and Takkyu Ishino. But, they're no trance to me.

| As for remixes of Ayu songs as you guys have mentioned, just go find the albums ayu trance and ayu trance 2. There are eurobeat remixes of ayu stuff as well, ayu-ro mix and ayu-ro mix 2. She isn't a DJ at all, but a pretty good JPop singer, but she's very very widely remixed. |

What I like about Japanese culture is they're so big on squeaky happy things without the amount of derision like in America. I don't get why people are hatin' on the happy stuff, as there's enough pain and suffering as it is and dance music helps people feel better; even gives them an outlet to escape from the humdrum.
Vanessa-Mae isn't Japanese but of Asian descent, sure -- her "I Feel Love" remake of the Giorgio Moroder & Donna Summer hit I consider trance, and the original was proto-trance or disco. There aren't a great deal of exports, that's for sure... Ken Ishii would be more "techno" if you want to pigeonhole, and Yellow Magic Orchestra are pioneers of numerous things, including trance and j-pop. I can't give enough credit for them and their techno-pop sound, renowned for their hypnotic, uptempo melodies -- sound familiar :D?
Here's a label famed for their trance compilations in Japan, although most of the artists featured are licensed from abroad:
