i just like to think in the now. since 9/11 we haven't suffered any attacks on our soil which I think should be something that everyone is looking at. |
this reasoning is highly reductive; one can just as easily say that were never attacked on our soil prior to bush or that we were attacked because of the bush administration's intelligence failures.
| quote: | | Remember there are people out there who have attacked our right to live, if we can't defend that and move to elect a leader focusing on quality of living then whats the point? Bush is preserving life by preventing attacks from happening. |
if you think that we were attacked because people were "jealous of our freedom" then a refresher course in 20th century world history and political science is in order mate. there's a reason why planes are being flown into downtown manhattan (and not, say, downtown stockholm, oslo or manitoba) and it has nothing to do with jealousy.
| quote: | | Kerry is focusing on quality of life, how can we attribute to quality of life if someone is out to take our lives from us. |
kerry is hardly the one-dimentional caricature you portray. his campaign has focused serious attention to issues of national security and to imply that bush is the only capable of defense is to seriously shortchange a guy who knows a thing or two about the military -- the man was taking shrapnel up the ass while others were seeking deferments and doing coke and quaaludes with fratboys.
(and i'm not voting for kerry btw) |

I'm voting for Kerry because I was against the war in Iraq and against the US sticking its nose and ass into every other country it sees as "wrong." Because I am afraid of what would happen in terms of abortion and stem-cell issues if Bush appoints any Republican Supreme Court judges. Because Bush's proposed amendment to "protect marriage" is a crock of reminiscent of separate water fountains for blacks and whites. Because the Democrats are, for me, the people's party, the party of democracy and the people's voice.
However, Kerry is not my ideal. And I wish Howard Dean were still in the running... |

his "cleaning" up of new york had far more to do with a nationwide uptick in the economy and a lowering of unemployment that it did with the genius of rudy...
i could go on about his disregard for civil liberties, his ting on communities that disagreed with him, the police scandals, the ethics investigations that racked all his top deputies, his shortchanging of unions, the transformation of new york city from a place of vibrancy and excitement into a generic anytown usa, etc. but this is a thread about a kerry/bush |

If Howard Dean was running for president, Dubya would be winning in an epic landslide reminiscent of Reagan-Mondale in 1984 |

At least I'd have someone who I really believed in to vote for. ;)
Fun fact: Joe Trippi (who I'm in love with ;) ), campaign manager for Dean's 2004 campaign, also worked on Mondale's campaign and was a key figure in Mondale's Maine and Iowa caucus wins. Fun political facts for everyone! I'm such a dork... :toocool: |
