I dont have to prove it, its a simple fact that pretty much everyone knows. Its not a big deal, and I even said thatI dont really believe that many people think his stuff today is particularly amazing, but they still respect him for what he does. |

EDIT : is it cuz pvd has worked with bt, cox and wetbam ?? does that mean joof gets no respect cuz he only worked with hemstock & jennnings and MIKE ? cmon girl... |
Well try and answer that one yourself...
Do you think Carl Cox is ever going to get on the phone to joof and ask about getting in the studio together? clearly the answer is no. Ask yourself why that is. |

She probably read it in the same magazine that claimed it coined the term "Electroclash". In actuality I doubt anyone can provide proof that Miguel Migs, Adam Beyer, Dave Clarke, Bad Boy Bill, Derrick Carter, Jeff Mills, Freaky Flow, LTJ Bukem, Dieselboy, Surgeon, Chris Liebing, Richard Vission, DJ Dan, Roni Size, Moodymann, Robert Owens, Juan Atkins, Photek, Teebee, JJ Flores, Q-Bert, Cut Chemist, Z-Trip, Q-Bert, Mixmaster Mike, DJ Shadow, or any other top producer/dj has any respect for Paul Van Dyk. |

^^u sed q-bert twice hehe
I always thought it was cuz they had different sound preferences.
What it the realy reason tho, why doesn't Joof deserve respect? |

They should. All it is is a popularity contest, and it puts an egotistical mind-set into the heads of the DJs. I'll use the most recent winners, Tijs (though I'm still a fan) and Oakey. In addition, it puts a ton of pressure on them, even though people fail to realize that they have quite a busy schedule. Many people (mostly this community) never feel that anything they do is ever good enough, and constantly insult them and spread hate.
If someone besides Tijs wins this year, I guarantee you that people will turn against him. |

The simple fact that everyone knows is that most other scenes despise the trance scene. Make a thread about trance on a house, techno, dnb, or breaks forum and see what happens. |

thats full of , tong gives j00f full respect.. simple fact that everyone knows.. lol..thats not a valid arguement you base the fact that pvd had his # of collaborations to the 'respect' value but you cant base that on the fact that j00f gets no respect ? bull . maybe if he didnt stop djing/producing cuz of lung cancer he would have made more of an impact in the scene, but to say that everyone knows that he doesnt get respect is bull hes one of the many pioneers of the uk scene..been in the game for longer than pvd. |

you know ur only line of defence that u use in gazillion of threads is that he is respected..who the cares..hey everybody go see PVD tongiht he sucks but atleast he is respected by BT n cox..why dont u put that info in ur sig and save us the trouble..for a highly judgmental and critical person ur reasoning is crap. |

Well I think he deserves respect because he plays music that is fun to dance to. I find that his track selection if fairly unique and I think his music is good.
I don't listen to every Joof broadcast or even see him very frequently, I also haven't heard every alternative to him that is out there, but out of the things I have heard, his music stands out to me. Is this because I'm clueless? |

Pete Tong gives a lot of people 'full respect'. But hes one guy, and doesnt really represent any kind of common trend. Im not basing PvD getting respect on any one thing really, its just something that anyone with a bit of a clue knows.
This started because someone brought up the fact that trance djs are seen as by everyone else within the scene. This is 100% true, although PvD is always a strange exception, as he has lots of ties with people who you wouldnt really expect him to. Im not under the impression that Adam Freeland or whatever sits and listens to PvD's albums or anything, but he does command respect from guys like him.
So what if joof has been around longer? so what if he had cancer? these things happened, and we are were we are now. |
