I have a Athlon 3200+ with a uad and powercore pci card, and emu1212m onboard dsp effects (all in all it equals to around 6ghz of power), this system doesnt even budge if i add 10 sonalksis eqs. You obviously don't know anything about equalization. Sonalksis , psp master Q for example upsample and this in turn reduces aliasing artifacts, and also allow you do do more in terms of radical boosting or cutting. I know for a fact many engineers who use the eqs i mentioned on single tracks, guys who remix big name hip hop artists, rock bands, etc... The pultec eq on my uad is the best freakin eq ever, but it does add some color to the sound in a good way. You know how many artists put them on individual tracks to boosts lows and add high end presence. Alot! I'm no amateur and I know what i'm talking about. Sure you can get results with cubases eq, you can get results with reason as corbitt just proved to us. But why suffer using ty eqs when there are better ones out there that will make your mixes sound more professional and not like a c64.
you mentioned native plugins not dsp plugins as far as the UAD goes I prefer the cambridge eq it all comes down to preference if you can get good sounds out of one thing why switch....

DISCLAIMER!!! read before you read the post
flame flame flame away its all good my balls are big enough to take it. dont like what i said dont attack the way i said it for my grammerical errors or my spelling errors as that shows that you must resort to merely stating the obvious rather then debating the issue of what i said. if you have problems reading it dont read it if your going to bitch about how sloppy the post is. and finally heres what i said:

i will have to agree with what was said earlier reason was nice a few years ago but it truely has overstayed its welcome. why bother learning reason when in reality there are far supior programs for far cheaper. ever heard of buzz? free . honestly all this talk about making a synth yours and so on why not create your own vstis to truely create your own sound to distinguis yourself from every other 15yo who downloaded reason because he heard aibase uses it and he cant quit cumming all over himself because it.... just like when gabriel and dresden were on asot and they said they used logic ever wonder how many people downloaded logic that day and were like ohh yeah im ing cool even tho i cant even get a vsti to load..... yeah reason can make some decent sounds but what about indiviuality what about putting your own mark on something why create something thats been done over millions of times.

learn cubase or learn logic or learn protools and hell if any of thoose three look to hard why not just learn flp. why learn a program that can not create supior sounds. i personally consider most reason users to be fanboys. they jumped on the bandwagon as soon as they could. reason is decent no doubt but why, with reason your pretty much stuck to trance. i am one that likes to create really wierd ed up sounds and then sequence how i feel. yes most my tracks are considerd complete horse by people but atleast my tracks dont sound like every other ing trance track out there. why not do something new instead of doing something thats been done over many of times.

but hey this isnt what this thread is about its about someone going look at me i loaded my reason full and created a track that i like. it if you like it then its all good just me personally i dont think reason can create really amazing sounds. i had a friend who told me why are you switching to flp why are you bother learning flp in depth it sucks nothing sounds good it all sounds like midi . i go verstality vstis make reasons synths look like playschool keyboards. which btw some of them make some good sounds but as far as being able to constantly create a new sound that doesnt sound like every other sound is ridiculous. now he sees my point when after all these new producers came out and he relised they were using reason and thats why all their tracks sounded so simlar he stoped argueing the comment reasons better.

i wont lie when i was 16 first thing i did when i heard a drum and bass remix my friend did with recycle rebirth and reason i downloaded all three, but i laterd realised that his remix was infact good but it wasnt what it could of been. then 2 years ago i started getting into producing more and i was trying to learn reason in and out even got a few video tutortials that show you exactly what to do and about all the wiring concepts and such, which might i add i find very great as i personalyl would spend hours just wiring up a few synths and patching them and so on becuas ei thought this is crazy . but then a few of my online producer friends persuaded me to get flp, i was like wtf fruity loops i rember when i played with that when i was 14 and was like this is boaring and lame. but i got flp a year ago and honestly i learned eyecandy doesnt make your tracks ear candy. all the uneeded makes for nothing but distraction from your intentions, so what did i do i learned and struggled to figure out fruity i didnt even know how to load a sample channel.

for about 4months in i didnt even know wtf the playlist was for and i was creating all my tracks using pr and i was about to quit when i learned about the playlist and how well it works. over time i learned how to do various tricks in flp i learned how to do alot fo thigns but i conitously struggled to create and real decent percussion and just in the past few months i started changing my step sequencer to allow more then just 4 measures now im running 8 measures and i wish i could figure out how to make it do 16 measures but i cant ever get it to expand to allow that much. this solved my percussion issue becuase i can litterly create a number of varitions to the percussion without ahivng to constantly write completely new and potetionally off beat percussion changes. instead i can merely copy the sequence and then go trhoguh and change a hat or clap or kick here and there to where it saves me time and overall allows me to have more progression on my percussion.

so i guess what my point is it really doesnt matter what host you use when it all comes down to it just dont use a praprioatory host or else your world will shatter when finally you must change and relearn everything. i feel very comfortable admitting i use fruity loops based on the facts that i learned about how reason accutally does suffer from various issues that ahvent been fixed and its allready been out for years and the same problem is there. plus for the fact that i can honestly say with fruity loops i feel no confinments to do a single genre and considering the fact that most the tracks that i make and arent remixes follow about as much as this so called guidlines to production as human nature follows any teachings of anyone........ bassically do what you want make what you want if you like it then you like it just dont have a couch so far up your ass that you cant see the truth that is presented. reason is ok but do you need the eyecandy for inspiration or does it really distract you from doing what you wanna do.
Redbull
I'm sorry but I just don't see what the big deal is. I've heard good music created in Cubase, Reason, Fruity Loops and with other software. Sure each program has its pros and cons, but in the end it just boils down to what the producer feels most comfortable with.

I mean, let's be realistic. There's been music signed that has been created in Cubase, music signed that has been created in Reason and music signed that has been created in Fruity Loops. That has to mean that each program is at the very least reasonably capable of creating something decent.
