well i think i should summarize this thread by saying:
ITS NOT THE SOFTWARE THAT GIVING U THIS ULTIMATE SOUND IS THE WAY YOU'R USING THE SOFTWARE ITSELF |
|

| John |

pjotr was the only one in this thread to say something i completely agree with.
most of you are just measuring your dicks here with those stupid screenshots.

you think that bassline you made wasnt made before a few 'million' times? how bout the 4/4 kick? or the snare on the 2nd and 4th beat? the supersaw? the basic construction of the track?
the fact is that they were all done before probably, if they were any good you might have even heard them on a vinyl.
why should your uniqueness come from what program are you using?
my point here is that if its good, its good, doesnt matter where its from. btw, do you think that none of your favorite tunes were produced in reason? if so, based on what?

why learn a program that can not create supior sounds.

reason has a unique sound, thats true, but thats not a downfall.
producers always look for some kind of a unique sound (tb303 for acid, 808/909 for classic beats, sidstation for dirty electro, jp for classic supersaw....etc.etc.) why wouldnt they look for reason's unique sound?
point: there is no such thing as a superior sound

i personally consider most reason users to be fanboys. they jumped on the bandwagon as soon as they could. reason is decent no doubt but why, with reason your pretty much stuck to trance. i am one that likes to create really wierd ed up sounds and then sequence how i feel. yes most my tracks are considerd complete horse by people but atleast my tracks dont sound like every other ing trance track out there. why not do something new instead of doing something thats been done over many of times.
|
i had rebirth since it originally came out, and i got reason when it came out because propellerheads have prooved themselves completely with rebirth as far as im concerned.
I HAVE NEVER PRODUCED A TRANCE TRACK.
on the other hand, i produced many techno, house & break tunes.
and i have heard better drum'n'bass on reason then i have on vinyl.
ive heard some decent classical music/jazz music in reason aswell.
so where exactly is the limit that forces you to make trance? in reason? or in your head?

what is the uneeded ?
i was never distracted from my intentions in reason (nor in any other program i tried) |

| Psy-T, listen man, of course Reason is capable of producing good trance tunes with the right person, but that doesn't make it a good software package. Actually it stinks and is very limited. You have to work 10 times are hard to get something that would take u half the time with a good host and good vsts, which are getting better by the week. If you needed to get somewhere and you were offered 2 cars, a box with no muffler or a brand new ferrari, what would u take? Anyone who still uses reason is either way out of the software loop or just too damn poor to dish out a few hundred for a good host. Even for those who have moral issues pertaining to warezed stuff, there is a load of free vsts out there that make reason look like crap. Software has advanced at light speed since the inception of Reason. Its the same thing with Pro Tools, everyone wanted it a few years back, now you can build a system that ravages it for a few thousand. Heck my soundcard has the same converters as the flagship model for 200US. I think what Corbitt was doing was testing his skills, seeing if he could come up with something prodfessional, and it just failed. It's not his fault, you can't expect to layer 7 subtractors and get a clean sounding mix with aliasing biting you up the ass and cheap ass compressors and flimsy eqs that do more harm than good. The only Reason that ass software still gets talked about is because alot of kids just starting out looking for a software sequencer to produce are recommended Reason time and time again. people who don't know are giving kids advice about software. Any sequencer, fruity, cubase, logic, digital performaer, sampiltude, ableton live, buzz, etc... are just for arragnment . actual sounds are made by outboard gear or vsts running in the host, so doesnt mattewr what host u use, its all pointless, i use the one that I feel most comfortable with, and that a fruity/cubase combo. If reason 3.0 has vst support, and a totally new redesigned audio engine with better support for dsp , vst, rewire, pdc etc... than maybe i'll give it a go. But for now it sucks, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR EVEN THE YOUNGEST NEWBIE! |

If Cubase or any other program is so much better than reason, than it should be very easy for you to make far better tracks than MK-S ;) |

i replied to devil's post on every point i had something to say,
you are replying to me but not reffering to anything i said, just to a general picture you have of me as someone who preffers reason.
i dont even want to get near that debate,
i say to each their own.
why do you care so much anyway? the more people are on reason, the more unique your production will be next to them (according to some other posts here & yours) |
