yep, totally agree rez & Doc, and some excellent points from Vitamin V :gsmile:

I most certainly am not talking about ALL forum-posters, not at all! :gsmile: Just the select few that like to bitch for the sake of bitching, or bitch about topics with which they have no real understanding.

Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion when it comes to tastes in music - either they like what they hear when it comes to music, or they dont like it.

And of course, there are the many that may not be able to mix at a "professional" level, and of course are indeed "educated listeners" as you so elequently put it :gsmile: If a statement made on here is unrefuted fact, then there can really be no argument. I am just a little perturbed by people that make grossly incorrect assumptions, and then post on the forum with statements that serve no purpose... other than this fantastic debate of course! heheh :gsmile:

I feel that, making negative comments based on incorrect information or incorrect assumptions, or for the sake of making negative comments (or following someone else's lead in doing so), especially if they are baseless, is somewhat counter-productive and unnecessary, and I think that doing so via a face-less forum takes absolutely no courage whatsoever.. or would you say that is not a fair point? :conf: :gsmile:

Equally, I guess it is difficult to tell in this kind of environment as to who has some experience in these matters, and who does not... but saying that "DJ xyz messed up xyz mixes", especially when it is clearly not the case, is somewhat misguided and very unfortunate. I'm sure that most/all of the DJ's read these forums at one point or another.

Anyway, I have enjoyed engaging in this discussion, and thank you for the welcome! There has been absolutely no harm meant, and no harm felt at this end :gsmile: and I look forward to many more 5am events!!!! :gsmile: :gsmile:

:conf: :conf: :conf: ahahaha you have no idea what you are talking about, dbass did not screw up a single mix, in terms of both beat mixing and key mixing.and the only time the beats jumped was when someone accidentally KNOCKED the turntable when walking past it.

I was lucky enough to score d'bass' CD latest CD on friday night, and it is absolutely AWESOME, in terms of both key and beats.

Im pretty sure that most DJ's would appreciate it if you get your facts straight before mouthing off about "bad mixes", especially d'bass in this instance. Nothing worse than incorrect assumptions - best keep them to yourself I think.

And I think it was very big of mangler to set the record straight(hehe no pun intended) on this, awesome to see :gsmile:

Firstly let me start by saying that i am beyond insult by the ignorance of your post!:whip:

I have been listening to dj's of all varying levels and styles for almost the last ten years, my brother has been djing for almost eight, and i more recently have been playing for the last six months.

Whilst i dont claim to be a particularly gifted dj yet, trust me when I say i do have quite a good idea about what good mixing and ed mixing sounds like.

I sat in horror ( with a few who aren't commenting here ) and quite clearly heard and saw d-bass trainwreck quite a few mixes, not just a little either, in some parts she would have made my abilities look good.

I'm not saying she's a bad dj, dont get me wrong. I know everyone can have off nights, perhaps she was just having an unlucky one. I also dont think 5am would get her to play if she wasn't more than capable, but on friday she was well below the standard i'd expect for an act supporting solarstone.

So maybe you need to get your facts straight before accusing me of lack of knowledge on the matter:whip:

I also find it interesting that you would register today just when this matter came up and make this your first post.

The only role of the dj is to play for the crowd and impress them, i was the crowd, i wasn't impressed.

p.s i'd still be keen to hear her disc to see what she is capable of.

Mangler
Dude, there were no trainwrecks.... there was a little problem with the monitor, which even Solarstione were concerned with. Sometimes when you play live the sound can sound muddy or you cant quite hear it 100% perfectly & the only way to tell if your mix is out is to hear what it sounds like when it's out in your headies when cueing up. If any mix was out, it was only slightly out, certainly no train wreck. watch any dj, and they adjust their tunes, sometimes you get the perfect one that stays perfectly in.
To say D Bass cant mix is COMPLETELY & UTTERLY wrong. She is better than most. the mixing may not have been as tight as at Transcend but it was still good.
I played a record that was scratched, and there was one record that was bumped, thats what happens sometimes.

you're quite entitled to not enjoy a set, so if you didnt then fair enough.

Doc Matrix is right... people just wanna hear music that sounds good... however, dj's are dj's & chinstrokers are chinstrokers, & Paulie is Paulie... and we had all of them there on this particular night... now, we have anew category... the Trevgeeza!

Sexual slurpee!!! :stongue: :stongue::crazy:

Mangler, I trust your judgement. If you say she's good i'll take your word for it and make a point of seeing her again:happy2:

I didnt say she's a bad dj, just that I did notice a few mistakes, but if you had a scratched vinyl and a bumped deck than fair enough:tongue2

My last post was more a reaction to ridiculous post by star.rider telling me I have no idea.

p.s solarstone ing rocked.:eyes:
