Not Again, Michael Moore! (pg. 3)

Actually prescription drugs are only legal drugs when they are meant to treat a specific medical problem. Many of them are far more harmful than some illegal drugs. For instance, I think that taking massive amounts of Ocycontin (sp?) as Limbaugh did is far worse than pot, which Limbaugh has been so outraged about. It's really more like comparing red apples to green apples, as it's pretty much the same thing. Just ask Mr. Culkin of Home Alone fame, he was arrested for having prescription drugs without a prescription.
As for Ann Coulter, my favorite was her joke that Southwest Airlines should change their slogan to "You are now free to move about the country...unless your name is Muhammed." Very intelligent .
Furthermore, I'd rather have Michael Moore playing to people's emotions, rather than have the Vice President doing it in a much more terrifying way; by making people worry that we'd be attacked like on September 11th if we voted for Kerry or didn't go into Iraq. A civilian expressing his opinion is far less harmful than the executive branch.
For every Michael Moore, there's a Michael Savage out there. |

I like Rand, Rand doesn't like Nietzsche for many reasons, which I happen to agree with. It's a philosophical thing. I don't believe in the whole moral imperative thing among others. I'm a selfish, capitalist pig.;) :D |

Damn it, Shakka, you're confused again. You're thinking about Kant, not Nietzsche! They're similar, but not the same.:whip:
My apologies, Neo, I realized this in the car on the way home. I still don't think I'm wild about Nietzsche, but I don't have my hands around him as clearly at the moment. |

Hey, no problem. Even if you knew Nietzsche and didn't like him that would be cool. It would be a pretty boring place if everyone liked what I did. :D I just like to know why people think differently if they do. I try not to aim to change people's opinion, just state mine as clearly as possible while challenging theirs. If that makes sense. |

Similar? SIMILAR? Why on Earth would you lump one of the greatest intellects ever to walk the planet with one of the figure heads of the romantic movement - the second best shot at burying reason of all time? Tell me on what points do they share traits, except for them both being Germans living within a hundred year period?
On topic:
| quote: | | "We want to get cameras rolling now and have it ready in two-three years," Moore says. "We want to document and commercialize it. Fifty-one percent of the American people lacked information (in this election) and we want to educate and enlighten them. They weren't told the truth. |
Apparently, it doesn't matter if US citizens are aware of the facts. They have had access to the truth for the last four years, but they chose to focus on keeping down gays' right to marry, "supporting the troops" by demonstrating unquestioning allegiance to the president, and that "God is in the White House".
As much as I admire MM for being a brilliant manipulator, a technically flawless movie maker, and having the guts to stand up for what he believes in, it doesn't matter how many people he gets his "information" out to. The large majority of US voters will still be to stupid to reflect on it or go and vote.
EDIT: speedracer: For once I agree with you. Kamil does need a brain. Shows that supporting Bush might be a sufficient condition for being stupid, but apparently not a necessary one :tongue2 |
