And the whole pit bull issue is just retarded. The dogs aren't lethal killing machines like the media labels them, they just need much more rigorous training and discipline than almost all other breeds.
So just banning them outright is actually skirting the issue, its the easy way out. What should happen instead is mandatory classes for pitbull owners to insure that they are capable of raising and controlling their pitbulls, same as with getting a driving permit to drive a car. |
We're talking about the same government that just haphazardly threw $41 Billion at the our Healthcare problem only asking for reports on waiting times in return....yea....real great 'solution' |

I think it's a damn good thing they are banning from schools. Schools are a place to learn, and if you are offering them crap, they are learning that this is acceptable.
People bitch and complain about our fat society. More than half the ing people in all of Canada and U.S. are fat asses. They will all die of heart attacks, and blood clots, but we continue to offer them more and more "tasty" .
They should put granola bars, oranges and apple sauces in these machines. That is what these kids need. Not high sugar candy that gets them hyper, and then sends them on a sugar drop. It's sickening how companies are trying to get them while they're young. If they distribute their oh so good chocolate bar in schools, to small children who don't care about things like "healthy eating", it will increase their sales, and will keep customers for a life time.
I am glad they are doing this. In fact, I am glad with most of the decisions the NDP has made so far. Sure they are making a lot of rules, but if they don't, we will continue to get fatter, and people will continue to die and do stupid because of negligence.
Yes, we are adults who can decide for our selves what we want to do. However, that doesn't mean we make the best decisions. Are you honestly trying to tell me that you think all adults make the right decision? HA! YEA RIGHT! What kind of dellusioned world are you living in? Adults make worse decisions than the typical child does.
The pitbulls ban is good. They are a danger to society and we do not need them around. People breed them and make them evil pets, just to use them in underground bull fights and what not. They turn vicious due to their in-breeding. Do people really want an angry and vicious animal hanging around their neighbourhoods? I know I don't!
Bicycle helmets... IT'S COMMON ING SENSE PEOPLE!! Why would this law bother you so much? I mean, if you have a brain in your head, you would wear a helmet anyway, so no big deal. Oh wait, we have a lot of dumb ass morons that can't put two and two together, and are getting their dumb ass' hurt. So, why shouldn't we MAKE them wear a helmet? If they are going to be too stupid to put one on in the first place, we have to treat them like a stupid child, and force them to.
Banning cigarette smoking from indoor places in Toronto: it is about time!!! They did it here a few years ago, and now I find going out in public a much nicer experience. I can breathe!!! I wont even begin to explain why this is a good thing. It is so obvious, and has been discussed a thousand times over again.
Anyway, I'm glad that someone is making some rules. People are too stupid these days that someone HAS to do something. The NDP's are stepping up to the plate, even though they are recieving a lot of bad response. It is for the well being of our people, and that is the most important thing about a country, is the people. If they aren't being taken care of, then what's the point?
Just be glad we have such a wonderful country like Canada. We are very blessed :) Take a look at the third world countries. All you complaining bastards, why don't you just ship out? If it's that ing bad, go to Iraq and see if it's any better.
When we become over-ruled by the government, start having bombs dropped on us, massive deaths and disease, and extreme poverty, then you can start complaining about what a horrible terrible country we have.
JEEZ! Appreciate what you have been given! If you grew up in Baghdad you would be ecstatic that you were even graced to come here.

Theresa, you are right. Some adults do make poor decisions. But it is their right in A FREE AND DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY to make these decisions.
Your holier than thou approach is both arrogant and ignorant. Im sure there are plenty of activities that you engage in that could be considered "wrong" or "unhealthy". Consider looking in the mirror first before supporting such bans against others because you find them somehow morally wrong.
Do you take drugs? Go to clubs? Have sex? smoke? eat anything fried?
If yes to any of the above then you are making unsafe and unwise choices and should be banned from these activies. |

funny you mention that because they just rid that country of a dictator who thought he and his government knew better than his citizens.

A) this is why i'll never vote NDP because they are just a worse version of the Liberals.
B) I guess salt will be next on the ban brigade's hit list?

I am certainly not holier than thou, LOL!
There is a difference between making somewhat risky or unhealthy decisions, and just blatantly being stupid.
Yes I HAVE taken drugs, I do go to clubs, I have sex, I do not smoke, and I have eaten plenty of fried food. However, none of those things are a blatant disregard for my own safety (except perhaps the drugs, but I made a bad decision).
Offering children candy at any time they please, is NOT a bright idea. Hell, I was a kid, and if I could've I WOULD'VE eaten the whole bag of cookies. But my mom stopped me. Why? Because that isn't good for me. Kids need more discipline, or they will get out of hand. In this case, they will eat more, and fall into the category of being fat, just like everyone else is. We need to stop this weight gain epidemic. This is just a step towards it.
It depends on what the activity is, and if people in general seem to be making the right decision about it. Seems in the case of over-eating, people are in fact NOT making the right decision, so the government is helping people out, by making it less convenient. With children especially, SOMEONE HAS to step in, parents can't follow their kids to school and watch their every move, and neither can the teachers. Easy solution, ban the problematic product all together from the GOVERNMENT BUILDING!
These are my opinions. Please don't take them personally, I just feel very strongly about certain things, as you do. |

You said it yourself. You made a bad decision (healthwise at least) but it was your decision. Now how do you like all the naysayers out there telling you how bad you are? The case for kids under 18 is one thing (although they will just go to the convenience store which is why im still against it)... but what im against is social engineering laws that strip adults of any right to choose for themselves.
If a lot of people had their way the same brand of thinking that you have endorsed would have nightclubs shut down and sex outside of marriage deemed illegal. They don't do it themselves and their feeling is that nobody else should be able to either. How would you feel then? How would you like it if some 65 year old woman with nother better to do suceeded in shutting down nightclubs because she has a problem with her perceived notions of what goes on there even though it has absolutely no impact on her personally?
What you have just endorsed is the exact same line of reasoning.
Oh and as for the NDP. I find it quite humourous that on one hand they are trying to ban trans fats for the health of the nation, and on the other they are trying to legalize pot.
At least the NDP are consistantly inconsistant. |
