Got there around 12....MO was throwing it down....met with some TAs,
Junkie came on at about 1am, the place went nuts...he played an amazing set. The only problem I had with Junkie' set was that it was way too short...2 hours and he was done. Rank 1 came up next, totally disspointing....didnt like their set at all.. there was no mixing involved, it was like someone was playing a mix CD...after half way through, I just wanted MO to come back on... and come on he did, the next 2to 3 hours were great.
The place was not too packed, just about right...plenty of room to dance.
see you at Oakenfold

Just got home from driving all straight from the show back to London ;)
Overall, I thought the show was incredible. Mark's opening set was well done. He ended off that set getting really dark which was an interesting segway into Junkie XL.
I got to see Junkie XL open but then I was wisked away to assist in photography with the interview Kandaio and Ampz had with 1/2 of Rank 1 (Piet). Nice quick interview which will be broadcast on Ampz's radio show and most likely through Kandaio himself. Very great man. Much respect.
Junkie XL, to be honest didn't impress me as much as I had hoped. He really lost his energy level about 3/4 of the way through his set. Of course he brought it back with his new single "Beastie Boys - Fight for Your Right 2004 (Junkie XL mix)" to which the crowd exploded on but I still felt it was a bit lacking.
Rank 1, well Piet, opened huge. He did not dissapoing the crowd all night IMO. His mixes were flawless, he had the crowd at his fingertips. He just did a wonderful job. Pretty sure the place went crazy for yet again, Silence. I was incredibly impressed. He did a wonderful job overall. I can't praise him as much as he deserved.
Mark came back on opening with Tiesto - Ancient History which to me was suprising for Mark, but all the same I loved it. He played a fantastic set (the best I've ever seen him play). When he dropped that mix of Requiem for a Dream, I may have gone just a little crazy, but come on, that tune is incredible. Great job Mark, thanks again for such a fantastic night.
I'm off to bed though now. 4+ hrs of driving and a 10hr show means I need sleep. Great seeing all the TA's out as well as finally getting to meet Shaya007. :D |

Definately an incredible night, Chris has it totally right, Piet (Rank 1), absolutely tore up the night. I'd say considering he's been to Guv twice, he is truly a brilliant DJ. DJ Ampz and I also did a wonderful interview with him, and all of you can check that out very soon on my show, TranZaction ((tranzaction.kandaio.com) or www.amplifiedradio.com .
Great meeting a lot of you for the first time, thanks to Mark for the VIP, Piet for the interview, and to all the TAs for making this a night to remember!

| Mark's opening set was brilliant. I was probably the one jumping the highest in the whole crowd. Junkie was ok but most of his set was drawn out. Good listening tunes but a lot of dated stuff and the energy just wasn't there like ive seen previously. I wasnt interested in Rank 1 so i took off just before they went on. |

funny reading these reviews, because you can see the ones who love there trance and rank 1 killed it!!! and the ones that hate trance, and rank 1 ruined it lol...oh well, i think i prolly woulda enjoyed both though....if everyone was waiting to go nuts to fight for your right, they should just go in the drink, manzone and strong drop that tune a lot...i always go nuts to it too!!!
wow, mark played requiem for a dream??? damn, that woulda been one hell of a moment to hear that! to bad i couldn't go to this :( ...next week i'll be back in clubbing mode for some quality house from roger sanchez :D |
