the US brought us burgers and hotdogs (which in turn has turned into the bain of their culture). the UK brought us a sunday roast, stew and dumplings. in my eyes, there is simply no contest ;)

the pads are a better way of transferring and applying force than just using bare shoulders. Anyone who has taken a basic physics class knows that pads allow for a greater surface area, which allows more force to be transferred from one player to another. Also, the pads and helmet are about 20 kilos which add weight allowing for greater momentum, seeing that mass x speed = momentum.
I also seriously doubt that there are rugby players who are 350 lbs and bench press 600. |
