What Led You To TranceAddiction?

What introduced you in becoming a trance addict? I know it may be more promoted in the U.K. than the U.S. so it's more of a genre over there, but what cause you to get so fanatic about it?
For me I was just listening to alot of rock when my friend introduced me to commercial. I just pulled myself in deeper using napster to get more. Then I found this site on AG, and it's got me hooked! |

I went to my first party and heard Barry Weaver of Funky Techno Tribe, but he was playing trance then. I think that night completely changed my life, I never found another type of music (maybe classical) that moved me like that ever.
I know we all have our stories. I think mine is like every tranceAddict here. Once I found trance and felt it move me, i wanted more and different kinds of trance to see which does more ot me. I went through other genres, but never had one that made me feel like I felt from trance.
I don't think I knew as much about trance until I found TA. But I did have great taste in trance even before I found TA. I always wanted someone that would push the limits of music and not just be a genre. So I would go find people like Nick Warren or Oakie before they were anyone. That's what made trance for me, music that was like what I liked but had that extra edge. I know all the TAs here know what I mean.
I have to thank everyone here at TA for teaching me why I love this music. I knew I loved it, just not why. :D

1> Several years of dealing with the fact I knew I liked 'trance' but never knowing exactly what it comprised - lots of crystal method, moby, carl cox listened to here -
2> Trance Control although now I am not sure thats pure trance to me, the songs are too short
3> Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone - the first song i scoured the internet for. Couldnt find it cuz my cousin said it was Robert Miles.
4> You guessed it, Robert Miles, lots of it...
5> Access to college ethernet, Napster and tranceaddict - i havent been the same since :D

| Well I first started listening to Antiloop (not trance but it was the first electronica I started listening to) from there I found website with their songs and other artists and I branched out from there. I think I fell in love with trance right around when I heard Gouryella- Gouryella for the first time. |

| A very very good friend (to whom I will be eternally grateful) played Three Drives on a Vinyl - Greece 2000 for me and from that day I was hooked. |

| Wow:eek: now this is something to think about.....ahhh yes I remember how I got into trance. One day 2 summers ago my good friend plastikE told me to listen to something new, it was robert miles-children and I was in love with that song. eventually I started becoming addicted to it and abusing napster to my fullest extent. | someone in church got some "rave" cds from his friends and stuff and he'd always let me borrow it. A song that got me hooked was Dune- can't stop raving it was soooo good i know its not trance but it did lead me to look in mp3.com and i found nordbeat. nordbeat was cool but then later on they started not making anything. Then came trance control and so on. Brooklyn bounce also made me like trance or electronica if u will. Since i used to listen to rap only. Then i realized that the radio is full of crap that everyone likes and it sucks cause its so stupid. |

| I was totally into rock, thought any music without guitar just wasn't music and could often be caught saying "when they play techno, I say heck no". lol. But then I fell for this chick who was totally into dance type music and and of course, we all know the us guys will do to get a chick is mind boggling...eventually some of her music caught my ear and upon further investigation on the net I determined it was considered "trance". I still can't stand most any techno but now, almost everything I listen to is trance. I love it. It's opened up a whole new vista of my favorite passion, la musique. Ain't it funny how things change? Guess it just goes to show, never say never. |

Since i was a kid, i always listened to eurodance and freestyle. then one day my good friend DJ Rob Noli let me hear a cd with Binary Finary - 1998, PvD - For an Angel, and Da Hool - Meet Her at the Love Parade. Also, probably around the same week another friend let me hear energy 52 - cafe del mar. From then on i started to slowly listen to more and more trance, progressing from eurodance to eurotrance to vocal trance, then finally to all forms of trance. I still like a little bit of electro, since it is basically a tranced version of freestyle but i live for trance.
Trance is my religion, and my CD wallet is my Bible. |

| My trance addiction started in the early 1990's. Then i was listening stuff like prodigy - what evil lurks and so. I then just heard by a mistake a DJ set played by Westbam. There was some early works of PvD, Sven Väth, Hardfloor and many more. That particular set hit me like a bomb. That music was something beyond imagination. Just something amazing. That was the beginning of my addiction.. And i'm still here, listening to electronic music, including trance, progressive, drum'n'bass and many styles more. I hope i'll never get bored of this kind of music. |
