Thank god.
Martin deserves more credit than I give him.
Martin told reporters while he's defended the controversial MP's right to speak in the past, he "cannot, as leader of our party and the government caucus, tolerate behaviour that demeans and disrespects others."
Paul Martin outside cabinet room, Thursday. "It is unacceptable." |

It's a sad day for democracy.
While i think shes being a bit stupid i also think that it should be the constituants (who have re-elected her) that should decide her fate.
Paul Martin is no less a Liberal bully than Chretien was. |

I don't think you are correct here...there's one thing to express your opinion and there's a whole different thing to be an ass and single handedly ruin relations...it's a game and the game has rules which you need to play by, like anything else. I like people who stand up and debate, but people like her just repell me, i'd be embarrased to have someoen like that as part of a team running my country. |

| Like i said. Bush wont care either way about some backbencher. Canadians are making such a big deal about this because they think americans give a damn about what she says. They don't. And we shouldn't either. |

| This is a really bad move to make in a minority government. |

Since when are you an American and therefore can speak as one?
I am an American and frankly I care what she says. |

| And the only reason it is even relevent to you is because you live here and watch Canadian news. |

Not really. She's just not in the Liberal Party anymore, which doesn't stop her from making any remarks she'd like.
Carolyn Parrish becomes the 2nd independent Member of Parliament, along with MP Chuck Cadman of Surrey North. I wonder how long it will be before another party snatches her up. |

Well...that was just embarrassing.
I saw about 5 secs of that clip and that's all I needed to see (and that was muted to boot).
Personally as a Canadian I'm embarrassed.
I understand the free speech thing blah blah blah but some tact would have been in order.
To me, it's a cheap ploy for attention and trying to take advantage by getting a free ride on an anti-Bush wagon.
Her actions were un-intelligent, brash and that of a 5 yr old.
Anyone in a position of political leadership should know better and at least know how to debate issues rather stoop to this knuckle-dragging incident.
Hind-sight? The only thing she sees is her ass...
[EDIT]
Doh...didn't see she got canned...make that her ass and the door... :p
Hurray for common sense! :D |

It is time for Martin to step in.
Being a politician is not just about sitting in parlement - it is also about being a statesman FFS. Apparently this woman doesn't understand that.
Further proof that we pay our MPs way too little and as a result get a bunch of flunkies applying for the job. |
totally agree RJ - altho i'm glad she did it;) |
