Wow! I'm SOOO happy that Club Eternal exists, & that I went! I will be back soon!

Here's what I'll post before I fall asleep, maybe more tomorrow.

The Lights--WOW!!!! The multiple green lasers were perfect.

Sound system--strong enough that when I walked by the speakers, I could feel air being displaced. The right rear bass speaker started to blow out during Matthias though.

Crowd--Appreciative.

Music--I was starting to lose the faith in Austin. Do Austin people like EDM at all? Why do I even bother? Do I have to move back to SF or to NYC?
But the crowd tonight was there to hear some good tunes.

Travis-T mixed in some good bootleg mashups of ColdPlay & Dave Matthew.

Matthias--I'm not going to trainspot you, cause you can post it yourself.

George Acosta--I know people bash him, but he brought the heat tonight.
Opened up with a song sampling "24" (the TV show) then rolled into
Underworld-Born Slippy.

Slickest mix of the night for me--he transitioned from:
Sarah McLachlan--Silence (tiesto remix)
to U2 New Years Day (SO APPROPRIATE)
to Tiesto--Adiago for Strings.

Closed with Oceanlab--Satellite (not the AvB mix).

Ok, too tired for much of a review, maybe more tomorrow. It was great to see TAs--Dave M, Packer & his lovely lady Erica, & Matthias.

Wow, it sounds like Acockster played some decent tracks! How long was his set E? We left about 5 minutes after he got on the decks, haha.

It was a pleasure meeting you, always good to meet a fellow TXTA :). I didn't realise that Dave had already done so, as you saw him at RITM recently. My apologies for not having the chance to say goodnight!

Anywho, I'll post a little summary of the night and perhaps add to the discussion more tomorrow...

Eternal is a really really nice venue. Props to Jojo for the tasteful decor, beautiful lighting/laser setup, and the decent sound system (the power didn't cut out tonight ;) ). I think the place will be a promising club in the future, I can see it lasting. Impressed.

Dave, Erica and I drove up from SA to support Matthias and Travisty, and it was worth it. Travis played the opening set and as usual I found myself covered in goosebumps as he unleashed his great taste in tech trance & trance... opened with 3rd Earth, and also played Clocks (Tiesto Rmx), some Picotto, The Space Between (Tiesto Rmx), Ferry - It's Time, Dream Machine... oooof.

Matthias played from 10:30 til about 12:45, going overtime about 15 mins. Words could do little to properly describe the class with which Matt proceeded to tear up... This was the first time meeting him and hearing him play, and damn that Prog was bangin! What mix of Warrior - If You Want Me was it that you played? Probably one of your own edits I suspect. Whiteroom blew me away as usual. Great to have met you mate, my pleasure.

Anywho, time for mimis.

Damn, seems like I missed a lot.

I was planning to make it out on Saturday, but I felt like , causing me to sleep for a longass time.

Sorry, you guys. :(

just got home and need sleep so I'll make this brief.. It was definitely a fun weekend. Had a good time playing after Kimball Collins (Andres, I hope your girl is feeling better) and opening for Acosta was alot of fun. During the set I was being told that the speakers were distorting here and there...despite the fact that I played barely hot enough to be in the reds. I heard everything clearly through the booth moniters and could only assume (and hope) it did for the dance floor as well. Nonetheless, the club owners were very impressed, Acosta had good things to say as well..so it looks like I may be returning to Austin whenever they need me.

I had a great time playing for everyone as that was the first time a crowd I played for REALLY got into it. For example the rework I made of Josh Gabriel - Alive...the whole goddamn room was jumping. That was pretty cool. :)

I don't recall the order they were played, but here were the songs:

Andy Moor - White Room
Darko - When I return (Paul Rogers mix)
Deepsky - Talk like a Stranger (burufunk remix)
Derek Howell - Catalyst
Dousk - Towaway (909 mix)
Eelke Kleijn - 4.5 billion years
Gabriel And Dresden - Serendipity
JDK - Phantoms (Dousk Mix)
JFOS - Do What You Want (Infusion Breaks Mix)
Jose Zamora & C.Nemmo - Lightning Speed
Josh Gabriel - Alive
Kasey Taylor & Chris Meehan - Parallel Reflection
Kuffdam - Summer Dream (Slusnik Luna Remix)
Habersham & Numinous - Rhetorical Question (Chris Micali remix)
Matthew Dekay vs Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
Michael Lanning - Bound for Ascension (Thomas Penton remix)
Mooncat - Badass (Dirty Ass Mix)
Nikola Gala - Swing 2 Harmony (Matthew Dekay Mix)
Nikola Gala & Chris Mozio - A Dream Came True
Paul van Dyk - Seven Ways
Paul van Dyk vs Second Sun - Crush (album/vandit club mix) (re-edit)
Phil K and Habersham - Cloud Break
Space Manoeuvres - Quadrant 4 (Dousk Terran Mix)
Subsky vs Yunus - Erotic sumo

-on another note..all of the tracks that were 4/4 were edits or reworks.

Really impressed with the way alot of them sounded (from where I was anyway). Thanks for the reviews, whether told to me after the set or posted on here. Nice meeting everyone and hope to do it again sometime.

Hmmm...so was the sound guy informed of this or did I end up killin it? Strange as I maybe had 2-3 reds on the master out. Acosta was solid red as was Kimball..but both had good sets and really rocked the crowd.

Anyone take pics?

I went and I had fun. Other than the sound cutting out every 2 damn seconds because they had too much power on the breakers! lol :).

The Club:
Anyway, I like the club.. its nice and cozy, those are my favorite. I am sure I will be back, keep it up.

The DJ's:
Only heard the person before Kimball, and Kimball. The person before him played a lot of old stuff, G&D's remix of On A High, Delerium - After all, and some other older stuff.. Though it was cool to hear them again, I just wasn't really feeling like it was going anywhere, from groovy housey tracks, into cheese..

Kimball: I only listened for two hours, played some good prog bombs, and some nice melodic progressive, including my fav. of the moment, Swing 2 Harmony (I was very happy). Im sure the 3rd hour was more action packed, or I hope it was.. I know Kimball has changed quite a bit since I last saw him, I would say it was still a good show.. just not the same thing people would know him for in the past.

Thats all folks

peace

Sound: I bet Dave $5 the speaker would blow (the one on the middle pillar). I ended up just moving more to the front, I don't know what ended up happening.

Pics & Video: Some guy seemed to be video-ing the whole thing. I found the steady green of the camcorder disconcerting. DJ Alchemy (www.djalchemy.com) was there on Fri & Saturday night, taking photos. He usually posts within a few days of a show. Fav Quote from DJAlchemy (I asked him what he thought of Eternal). "It needs another 300 people--Austin needs to party more".

I thought the crowd was good, everyone there seemed into the music. I was happy it wasn't an open air meat market like Sky.

DJade, you should have given me the secret TranceAddict handshake.

Acosta played til around 3 AM.

the guy who played before kimball was andres (aka Chroma). imo there seemed to be more people on the dance floor when he was playing than kimball (not that it means any of them were better dj's). just seemed the crowd enjoyed chroma's set a little more. and being that i'm not very well versed in naming the tracks, i couolnd't say how much of what chroma played was old/new. i think the "needs 300 more people" theory would be awesome. austin needs to get another EDM radio station.

Anyone else realize the Ney Years Eve countdown was done 4 minutes after midnight? :stongue:

Aside from playing both nights the weekend had its good, its bad, and its bizarre... Lets see:

-Driving from Houston to San Antonio to Austin.
-No new years eve kiss..at midnight at least, the free drinks made it worth it.
-Getting kissed from random hot girls when playing after Kimball Collins.
-Getting towed since of the no parking under the bridge between 3-5am rule :/ unknown to me at the time.
-Paying $130 to get the car out.
-4 hours of sleep
-Driving to San Antonio and back to Austin the next night to pick up my bro and his fiancee.
-Meeting alot of myspacers and TAs, suprised that one of the TXTA's is a female...and a very attractive one I might add. (sorry can't say who it is, I promised) :tongue2
-Playing the above mention 2 and a half hour set. Made all the bull worth it. Oh hears something you guys will get a kick out of:
-Some columbian guy making an INSANE deal to buy my sleeveless vandit shirt off me..yeah the one Im always wearing..for $100, including trading me his $200 Versace shirt.
-Driving back to Houston in pouring down rain with no visibility..slick roads, etc etc.

I broke even on expenses thanks to JoJo and the guy who bought my shirt. Look forward to playing in Austin again soon...there has never been a houston crowd that I have played for that was anything like what I played for in Austin.
