Right music
Critical mass of people wanting to dance (noone really wants to be out there completely on their own)
enough substances (liquor)
Comfort level with club

Noone really danced at RITM--I still can't figure out exactly why.

Yeah thats the real challenge of being a DJ in my opinion. Someone can get the techical side of it down but not understand how to build up a crowd. The opening sets are the hardest cuz you gotta get people who may not be drinking or comfortable yet to come outta their shell.

Its kinda why I switched over from the harder trance to progressive because (in Houston at least) no one dances to trance unless its a headliner they are hyped up to see. It might be different in Austin but, Ive only been there twice now lol. My objective sat night was to slowly build from only 5-10 people dancing to as many as possible before Acosta came on. Usually bring the tempo down to 130ish and build it up to 137 or so.

I do have to say that you Matthias are simply..... bad ass!!!!
I was dancing non stop and was finnaly happy to meet you. The set was flawless, except when the sound cut off. what was that?? The mood was very tight and I do have to say, some of the tracks were choice.
I had a real good time at your set, even though some of the people I brought were there to see, Acosta, Hard core fans of his, we were all really surprised by your set, it was kick ass.
Take it easy and keep me updated on your next Austin gig.

I'll be honest..that was my bad. Was in the process of browsing through the tracks on a CD-R..and accidently touched the previous track button on the wrong CDJ (the one plying the Crush re-edit),
after adjusting the mixer. The track stopped cold turkey and was back at the beginning when I hit play. :o

Hopefully i wont be making that mistake again lol.

Matt - I'm sure everyone was convinced that it was another ""power failure""... haha just like during Travis' set ;)

the guy who played before kimball was andres (aka Chroma). imo there seemed to be more people on the dance floor when he was playing than kimball (not that it means any of them were better dj's). just seemed the crowd enjoyed chroma's set a little more. and being that i'm not very well versed in naming the tracks, i couolnd't say how much of what chroma played was old/new. i think the "needs 300 more people" theory would be awesome. austin needs to get another EDM radio station.

Heh!!! W3rd! Way to go Andres!!! :D

Let me state for the record how proud I am that if you google for "Eternal" & "Austin", tranceaddicts is the first result. Then how geekily ashamed I am to be proud of such a thing.

My friend was saying how buried the address of the club is on the official clubeternal website, & that's how she ended up here. So if the same happens to you, the address is...

418 6th St (cross street Neches), downtown Austin. On the East side of Congress, on the West side of I-35.

On the South Side of 6th St, about 3 doors down (& across the street) from El Camino. El Camino has excellent burgers & a great punk-ish jukebox.
