All this drama is hilarious.
On one hand you have Nick who made a post that went a bit to far.
On the other hand you have the TOTA community who went a bit too far in their responses.
Is it wrong to want people to go to Guv? No
Is it wrong to want a full house for what can be a Legendary night at Guv? No
| quote: | | Do not help this egomaniac get his prize..(did you know that Tiesto is NOT getting paid conventionally but is actually getting a HUGE chunk of the door) |
Tiesto's ego has nothing to do with this nor does how he's getting paid. I think the whole thing would have been easily avoided if the this line was not part of Nick's post. Personally speaking, spending more than $20-25 to see a DJ isn't rational. Nick also shouldn't have posted anything about guestlist.. it makes you get the wrong impression of his role @ Guv. He is not a promoter and just helps people get guestlist... its not his.
| quote: | | Also mister guv promoter man, you may want to let your management know that with this excessive overcrowding they've been doing lately has been drawing away the desirable crowd, the people who go for the music. |
Name 1 club owner/management that would NOT try to pack every last person in their venue. I'm pretty sure the owner of "X" club wouldn't turn away hundreds of people considering he's paying an average person's yearly salary to 1 DJ. My friend's father used to be one of the owners of the Docks and he'll attest that a $ is a $. All's fair in love, war, and especially business. If you think that an owner sees anything other than $'s when he sees a crowd at his club is dillusional.
| quote: | | Lil' Nickie clearly has shown his "professionalism" - and it speaks volumes about his character. |
All of the people that posted in regard to this and any related topic are in-fact showing how professional THEY really are. Some have remained objective and ON-TOPIC and others have been resolved to petty name calling. Be mature. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but name calling is childish. I agree that Nick's post was NOT professional... but Nick isn't a proffessional (promoter). He is NOT on the payroll and is not endorsed by Guv in any way. Neither am I (before you ask). His professionalism has nothing to do with it. He's just like everyone else... a patron @ Guv and just want his BDay to be special. He probably thought that, "If there is anyway i can get Mark to throw down a Gift set, I'm going to do it." Apparently that offended some people.
| quote: | | signing up on here just to tell others to come listen to a night of 'classics' or to sign up on your guestlist just reinforces the reasons why I have a manual approval process - it helps prevent hit-n-run promotion. |
Censoring your patrons isn't any way to control this. I try not to on www.luvtheguv.com. You should let him stand up for himself and apologize (where neccessary). All he wanted to do was tell people that Mark would like to play an old-school set but wants to make sure that there are enough poeple there to REALLY enjoy it. Is that wrong? No. Also Banning people (eventhough entirely up to you) isn't away to shut people up. They aren't slagging your site... so it doesn't impact you in any way.
If anyone would like to slag me for this post .. do so. Just make sure it has some substance and make sure that it stays objective. The thread won't get locked until it gets stupid and petty.
Thank you |

BTW Nick.
You shouldn't cut and paste post from one site to the next... see what happens.
Hahaha |

i think all the drama started because nick's friends spoke up thinking we were attacking his character....i don't think that was ever the intention...
whether he is a promotor or not, he came across as one in here...he's associated with the guv, is actively trying to get people to go, and is offering a guest list....that spells promoter, again if he isn't fine...but you can see how it looks...thats why people's noses got out of joint when he was cutting down the tiesto show and promoting the guv...promoters don't do that...
maybe it was all a case of mistaken identity...either way lets put this baby to bed
go to the docks, go to the guv...have fun!! |

Poke- I agree with you 100%.
Just saw this whole mess today. I know, and love, Nick. Were things handled right? not really- but that's by many parties here. I guess naming the thread "Mark Oliver VS Tiesto" was only asking for it, for beginners.
Let's hope we can all move on. |

At last, I have discovered why this wacky turn of events transpired.
The anti Tiesto post was not meant for the TA board. It was a personal post made by Nick on HIS own site, luvtheguv. (I went to check the forums and get a chuckle @ the Halliwell event thread.)
As abrasive as the post might seem here, and dubious, if put into context in it's original environment, the guv fansite it's understandable.
That said, it's display here, an entirely different community, was improper, at least without some editing. (I'm not sure who posted it, if it wasn't Nick, I'd be a little less than thrilled if I were him)
Anyway, case closed, I deserve a cookie. |

If you have ever been on here for any length of time (2 years - only 6 posts?) you'd realize that neither I or any of the 25+ mods go around "censor"ing things nor do we suspend accounts when we feel like it - in fact this is probably one of the most lenient forums of its size on the net in that regard in that there aren't 192812981 rules you have to abide by. The main one (in TOTA at least) being that if an event is to be promoted it has its own forum, where it and all associated guestlists are to go in, not to be pushed within normal thread topics.
Also, seeing how Nick spent no time (i.e. 1 hour) in waiting for his Gmonkey69 account to be approved , and went on posting under lit-tle_carrie - it makes no sense for me to give him privileges to post, based upon the language/tone and comments said towards other TAs in various threads about this topic. There is a way to state a point and go about it in a mature matter, and then there is complete disrespect.

Shaya, I went there and it looks like itikia posted the event within the 'Upcoming Events' forum on luvtheguv - I guess given the category it's under it is meant only for upcoming events at guv - although there are a couple of non-Guv events (System/boat cruise/etc) in there which I guess might confuse others to expect that any event was welcome for posting.
I have no problem with unsuspending the lit-tle_carrie account and giving Nick's account access after all this crap quickly becomes a distant page 2 memory. |
