i am glad we waited for the mixer. it wouldn't have been fun if he just spun songs and did nothing else.

he is definitely not a primadonna. if rjs mixer wasn't confirmed we probably would have got him to spin anyways but we knew RJs mixer was on the way.

Halliwell uses the sampler and fx on the 600 NON-STOP through-out his set - without those, his performance would not be complete.

I'm sure Halliwell could have done a set on any mixer (mixing back and forth), but frankly that isn't what I went to see him for, nor most of the people that know of him. The fans came to hear his unique style and technique of DJ'ing (which depends on the sampler + fx).

One wouldn't go to see Jimi Hendrix play french horn - right? Same idea here.

^^^^ Listen to his holiness.^^^^^^^^

I would have been more dissapointed if he played a mediocre to lackluster set on any other mixer, than having to wait for the right one.
It sux balls for people who came to see him and left (admittedly alot, cuz the floor was packed @ 3:30 and 1/2 empty at 5:30) but Im glad I got to see what I came for, not a less than 100% performance.

^^ Agreed. I'm sorry that some people had to leave early but I wouldn't want anything less than 100% from Halliwell and boy did he deliver!! :eyes: Seriously it was worth the wait. I have never seen him live so I didn't know what to expect. But from the time he got behind the decks he proceeded to pump out this unbelivable tech-trance set. I have never seen a trance DJ scratch and work the mixer + fx like he did. It truly was an experience. Thank you Eddie and thank you TR for bringing him to Toronto. The Boa resident DJs did a good job of keeping the party going until Eddie came on; nicely done guys.

Kudos to all the TAs that showed up especially My Way all the way from upstate NY. There's nothing like dancing your ass off and the TA right beside you is doing exactly the same. Gloria, you party animal, what's your TA name? :) Last but not least, Saint Rabbitjoker of Boa, Thank you!!

Having never heard a Halliwell set before, and not knowing jack about that specific mixer, I too initially thought it was a 'primadonna move' on Eddie's part, until it was later explained to me. The minute he was into his 1st track, I suddenly knew WHY he needed that SPECIFIC mixer- the set would not have been anywhere near what it should've been without it. My apologies for not having faith or knowing any better, Mr. Hallowell. Sadly, by the time it arrived, many had left. It was more of an intimate party by the time he was on. Really respect what this guy does behind the decks. Totally skilled. Twas a lot harder and faster than I anticipated, and I was just too tired to move much, tho I stayed til the end. Thought Tremblay played a wicked impromtu set until technical difficulties were sorted out!

Big thanks to Rony & the Boa staff for being top class. I wuv u guys SOOOO MUCH!!!!

As for the smoking... I can live with it if its in a situation like that, with LOTS of personal space. It sucks when you're crammed next to a smoker. Just wondering why they don't use that rooftop patio for the smokers? Considering I live with a smoker (tho he smokes outside), he still does smoke in my car so I'm still exposed to it at times.

Hi All,

I thought that I would take a few minutes to fill everyone in on what happend last night with the mixer situation. In a nutshell, Eddie's contract does state that he requires a Pioneer DJM 600. I left the club just prior to the doors opening to head over to Century Room to have a few drinks with Tiesto and the Project Orange crew. When I returned at 3:00 am, Eddie was here and I was informed that our Rane mixer was still in the booth. When I spoke with Li 'the tech' he informed me that the DJM 600 was creating a huge buzzing noise and feedback through the system and he put back the Rane as the Pioneer was not even usable.

At that point, I asked Li to take our DJM 500 from the lounge and bypass the Rane so we could at least provide Eddie with a slider mixer.

Once we got it sorted out and got Eddie into the booth, Eddie pointed out that the 500 does not have the FX and curb fader for scratching...Eddie truly wanted to put on the best show possible. We made a few calls and found another DJM that would take 1 hour to get to the club.

Many people have a difference of opinion at this point of what Eddie should or should not have done. I personally did not find him difficult in any way shape or form. His exact words to me where, 'I would rather wait and put on a proper show than play a few records, take my money and leave.' To be honest, the fact that he was really calm, cool, collected, and willing to wait around for the mixer showed me that he is truly an artist and truly a professional. I know a handful of DJ's that would have left the club and not bothered waiting...Eddie, if you are reading...thanks again for sticking it out...the Boa staff and patrons truly appreciate your dedication...It was well worth the wait!!!

To everyone that was in attendance, we truly appreciate your patience and we are happy to hear that at the end of it and, you did have a great time.

I also want to thank Jon Tremblay for holding things down in a big way...he had the floor rockin' and although some left prior to Eddie going on Jon did an amazing job at keeping everyone on the floor.

Thanks again for your understanding!

A few of my buddies went and told me that Eddie ripped it up,made good use of the sound system and blew the roof off of BOA:eek: I heard he was playing some really hard stuff that would have been to my liking so it sucked ass that I had to miss it:sadgreen:
