WAAAY overrated and def too touristy. i mean its JUST dessert FFS there are PLENTY of cafes to go to that are romantic and out of the way (which makes for a MORE romantic place), try around McDougal Street in the Village or sumdin like dat

and trunks is right -- that shiet is always overcrowded

lalo cafe (or is it cafe lalo... whatever) isn't bad... but i think a lot of the popularity from that comes from "you've got mail"

Cafe Lalo :D

well i guess -- the menu is AMAZING there no doubt :D:D -- BUT everytime i go there during prime hours its f0ckin crowded too and the tables are DEF not spaced out like in "You've Got Mail". there was like NO one in that cafe during the movie. hahaah. its not realistic LOLS.

La Lanterna -- this lil cafe near Washington Square Park, is dimly lit and not that fancy but the pumpkin cheesecake was YUMMMMM :D :D  :tongue2 :tongue2

Mona Lisa on Bleecker in the West Village isnt THAT romantic but has overstuffed chairs and good food as i recall. lols

if you're willing to make the trek to Philly, you should definitely stop by Morimoto

http://www.morimotorestaurant.com/

edit: I just realized that out of all the restaurants I've been to in NYC, none of them were really amazing. All the really great restaurants I've been to were in Philly.
