Tall poppy syndrome hey.

The day will come when one of these TA wannabe dj's will be doing closing sets and you'll have a whole new legion of chin stroking babies having a cry because its not their cup of tea.

Agree.

Regardless of whether you like NRG or Midro or Bass, i think he still deserves some respect. No one gets to a postion where he is now without hard work and determination. It is very easy to slam and critize what you dont like and miss the fact that he is very much a big part of the dance scene here in Melbourne - the same scene that WE are all part of.

You dont have to like him, not my cup of tea at all, but you have to realise why he gets the gigs he does, he has been around for a long time (ive seen him on flyers from 1991), he pulls alot of punters and he runs one of the biggest clubbing institutions in Australia. There may be other Djs that are more deserving but for the time being this is the way it is so, like it or lump it.

:)

well, this thread has taken a whole new different direction :D

although i entirely agree that midro deserves respect for what he did in the past, i still stand by my opinion that what he is doing at the moment is unconstructive and contributes very little to the trance scene. given his status as a well known DJ since the dawn of time :p , surely he can do better?

in all fairness his first half of his closing set at armin only tour on january was not bad at all, considering it was billed as a 'classic old skool trance' set, but still didn't raise my interest to listen nor dance to his set in its entirety.

:D

i agree that someone else should get the gig on the odd occasion to close. But noone has earnt the right yet unlike midro. you go find me someone else that has stareted a successful trance club night that has been running for almost 4 or 5 years (not sure of exact time bass and that have been around) and someone who has also released 6 or seven successful albums and released there own productions. Do that and im sure you will find that person will start getting the closing set to these parties

haha you forget how little that means here... its a popularity contest, the au.ta massive just want one of their own up on decks.

I beleive nobody here at this present time has the experience to do a closing set for a big event. And I'm not praising Midro's closer as anything spectacular, I just beleive you gotta work hard to where you wanna be.

If I had his experience and his legion of worshippers, I'd be playing DJ sammy remixes to close a party because I know I'd be in a position to do whatever I damn well please. And if a cult following such as the TA boards don't like it, then I'll play more Dj sammy in spite. (i do agree that midro sucks, and i do agree that his sets of late have been nothing brilliant)

fark me, what an absolutely amazing party! It's been said that this has been the best Kryal in ages....I have to agree! Below you'll find a copy of my tracklist and I have to say the crowd was def. up for it and great to still see smiles on faces at that hour considering the length of the event (2pm start) ;)

It was great to have the close in that room as by the time I started it was sunrise and the time I finished beautiful, glorious sunshine. The lineup in the mainroom was perfect and each DJ complimented one another extremely well - I mean, you couldn't have asked to have them ordered better than they were. Caught last half of Above and Beyond and parts of scott bond - All I can say is awesome!

Thanks to everyone supporting me in the wee hours of the morning...as it was getting closed to stumps for my room, I couldn't stop playing...the guys came to close the room and I persisted for one track after another...then finally I asked..look, just one more....it was born slippy....he looked at me and said...well how can I argue with that....haha...

Then, i managed to squeeze one more out of him again as now he was curious if I could top that....finished with Tiesto - Magik Journey....but half way through, he had to pull the power on me and close up...lol, funny stuff and a great way to end an amazing night :)....I have to thank all that attended and showed their support....I couldn't have made it without you guys as I was extremely tired and wasn't looking forward to the drive home.
