i was there just to kill time on a saturday night really. i just laughed while on line. looking at the people on the line, i knew i was in for a long night.
it's unbelievable what avalon has become. mostly guys. mostly older asians (i swear, if u're their age, like say 40s, wouldn't u be settled with family at home or something?), and then there were us TAs. jay, dan, lyss, andrew, dave and i were there. plain and simple, the crowd SUCKS. the worst part of it was when the whole lot of us were standing on the makeshift stage closest to the booth, and some dumbasses were pelting us with cups of ice and some other . the idiots were trying to start something with us too... curling up their biceps and flexing, showing us they're all that. i'm glad security came by and kicked those suckers out.
one of the positives on the night was the discovery of the removal of speakers in avalon. the sound at avalon was PRETTY good tonight. they removed the huge stack of speakers that was hanging off the ceiling on the side furthest away from the booth. it helped a lot in clearing up the sounds
johan was decent, but i don't understand how one can dance non-stop to 130+ bpm of hard driving funky trance. his track selection was interesting too.
one example is when he transitioned from
ernesto & bastien - darkside of the moon, right to
the rock project ft. tina arena - never (filterheadz mix). that just didn't work for me. johan spun tomaz v filterheadz - sunshine (not original mix) later on in the night, and there was some other stuff i recognized, but can't quite put a name on it.
i was actually having fun until those idiots threw stuff off the balcony. it went downhill from there... those f*cks |

Damn man, the beats are just too thumping non-stop. I like my harder shiate but when it's too unrelenting for hours.... it gets a little too much. When someone like PVD is on, he has a flow that dare I say...takes you on a journey or something. Johan just takes your balls and keeps slamming them on the ground repeatedly.
But there was some good songs and overall it was decent. If the environment was better, it could be a different story.
The crowd? Holy fawking God it sucked! I hope when I'm 40 that yes, I'm at home chillin with my kids or something. Maybe that's just me.
Asialon. Man, it's become ALL Asian. The only white dudes filtered in are some meatheads with spiky hair and tank tops. As a white guy, I honestly feel strange and I've lived in Asia for pete's sake. I like Asian girls so I've been thinking.... I might meet one of these women..... and later make a move on one of their daughters. Good plan? :D
And of course the crazy Hulkamania guy. I pointed at him and said "for all my little hulksters.... my 24 inch pythons are gonna run wild on YOU!" He loved it! One would never think you'd be seeing someone doing Hulk Hogan poses all night long at a trance club.... |

Different crowd, different club, different vibe.
And prob I was never the 100% supporter like you guys in (smel)LA.
You guys have hotter girls too. I used to live in Cali, I know. |

well somehow djs need to be convinced to stop taking gigs there...i only go cuz of the djs, and yea i wouldnt mind someone blowing up Fob-ALAND -- i got accosted SO many times it wasnt funny :whip: |

Yes!! I go there to see the DJ's I like. If they go somewhere else, then I'll go there instead. Unfortunately, it's mostly the only place to see good trance DJ's (except for a few exceptions like PVD at Ikon, Armin at Spirit).
I won't blow up the building, I'll just blow up the management/ownership group. Makes you really respect the Crobar management so much more.
Anyway....it's a tired subject. |

WERD :D I'm still HOPING that Ferry will start exploring venues other than Avalon -- even Spirit would be better....im just thankful that PVD and Armin haven't spun at Avalon yet... |

| Its true, the environment sucks ass at Avalon, but Gielen was definitely hardcore. He layed down his normal tracks that Ive heard from his sets and he didn't play any soft trance, he was hard the whole night. I luved it! I LUV HARD TRANCE!!! |
