What do you consider "hard"?

All this talk about music being hard and not hard enough. What is hard to you?
I think a good hard beat could be anything from house to techno to trance. I dont think hard always has to be build ups and synths. A good acid house track is very hard as is a really well done breaks track. I remember the rhythm masters used to makes some really funky but hard house remixes. Sometimes i think buildups are really over done and its nice sometimes to hear a "hard track" that actually incorperates different sounds other than buildups to get me going. |

I can not point out all of the elements. For me it's mostly about the bassline - the element that actually gets me jumping & moving to tracks. The tempo it is going, how heavy it hits, and what background synths accompanies the bass beats to me, makes the big difference if it is "hard" or not.
I don't think build-ups have much to do with making a track hard. |

Seeing all the reviews sometimes i think buildups have everything to do with making a track hard for a lot of people |

yeah, that and if it gets my head nodding back and forth uncontrollably or my feet moving involuntarily. Thats when its hard for me. |

i cant stand hard/fast music...it REALLY ANNOYS me...
i like driving rolling beats but more often than not anything over 130 bpm === too fast/hard for me... |
