I've been looking at a few "MVP prediction" articles on nba.com, so here is my beef:
The prediction that the two 2 candidates are Steve Nash and Shaq...
Now I agree 100% that Steve Nash has an incredible impact on his team, but we all know that point guards are never favored in the MVP race (ie, two years ago, Jason Kidd single handedly turned the Nets around, made them finish first in the East, and had the stats to back it up, but what they did was give the award to Tim Duncan (a big man with better stats)).
Now on to Shaq....
How can Shaq even be considered for the award this year? Sure he still dominates like no one else, but this has been a sub-par season for him. He is obviously getting older and his game (and stats) is on a decline. Dwayne Wade has had a much better season than Shaq, and I think it is Dwayne Wade that is just as responsible as Shaq for Heat having the best record (if not more responsible than Shaq)
All in all, its pretty hard to nominate someone for mvp this year...
Lebron went downhill toward the end of the season, Sonics have a pretty split effort along with the Pistons, Spurs have been playing pretty well without Duncan, and even though Suns have a very talented starting five...they completely broke down when Steve Nash missed a few games.
Thats just my rant....
