The next thing you know, they'll start banning peanut products (such as peanut butter) in certain classes, or worse yet, entire schools - to protect children with alergies to certain nuts. This will be due to kids throwing peanut butter sandwiches at eachother during food fights, where some unfortunate allergic kid gets hit by accident by a white-slice square in the face. Pure weapons.

They are doing that now in some of the schools around here...Anything that is peanut/nut related was banned at a school I used to tutor at

ANd you dont have a problem with that? ... perfume has been around since the middle ages and NOW we have a problem with it?

In what way do you think this is new?
There are lots of workplaces that don't allow odoriferous stink pretties for that very reason... :conf:

Come to think of it, there are a lot of people that just don't know how to wear it properly...

i.e. dousing yourself in it and making my eyes cry from 50' away is just wrong... :eyes: :wtf:

let it rest!~

it might be bad but does it really need a law against it?

Lets pass a mandatory shower law.

not a big deal imo. oh noes. you mean I cant run down the street naked, drunk, high, waving/shooting my gun widly, smoking my cig drenched in joop? oh noes. whatever shall I do ;)
Jayx1
Other than the gun and clothes part, you SHOULD be able to do those things. Its not being drunk/high thats the problem. Its if you choose to do stupid things while in that state that is a problem.

I think those people have mental issues. Why all of a sudden is this causing asthma attacks? Sorry but i dont buy this whole "cool to have an affliction" attitude that we seem to have now.

Things are getting out of control.

I suffer from Asthma ever since I was a kid dude & to make an ignorant comment like that then its obvious that your not an Asthma sufferer..."cool to have an affliction"?...what the is that:mad:

Perfume does set off an Astham attack if you are sensitive to that so yeah they should ban perfume...Severe Asthma sufferers can die from an attack...

All your views/comments in this & other forums have this "me me me" & screw-the-other-guy attitude and its becoming very boring...

WHy dont you instead make constructive and logical comments/replies instead of being so inflamatory & ignorant.

+1 :)

If someone is allergic to perfumes, it's their responsibility to tell everyone else in the office so that people can voluntarily stop using perfumes.

No need for a law here.

word!

bubblicious gum should be banned from close encounters of aliens on the subways!

Jayx1
Its funny. Im actually complaining about all the "me me me" people. YOUR perfume bugs ME. YOUR smokes bug ME. YOUR eating junk food bugs ME. YOUR cell phone ringing bugs ME. We are increasingly intolerant of others and the government is encouraging it.

Screw the other guy? No. But dont hold me hostage to every single person's whim either.

PS i also have asthma.

Yeah, tons of places have banned those, especially elementary schools and day camps.

I'll state my opinion on this one more time: schools leave children under the guardianship of teachers and principals. That makes them responsible for safety and puts a liability on them. Thus the issue is no longer about government and individual rights, it's actually much more similar to a private organization (like a daycare) trying to protect itself against civil liability. They have to put safety as the #1 concern, especially knowing that parents can't be relied on to give accurate information with respect to things like allergies (half the time they don't even HAVE the information).

Obviously this point becomes moot when we're talking about idiotic stuff like banning soft drinks, but I've seen the way some people react to excessive perfume and it's pretty brutal (my mom starts coughing up a lung half the time). If there's even a remote possibility that something might pose an *immediate* threat to health or safety, it has to be dealt with.

I'm very anti-government-interference, but public schools are fair game for just about anything because of liability issues.
