Airbase done! (pg. 7)

What's with all the personal bashing in here? Why not just accept that others have a different opinion, is it that difficult? Some like Airbase's stuff, some don't. Personally I belong in the latter category, I think 99% of his work is boring, but I'm able to respect those who feel differently. Have a peaceful new year...

He's right. Every genre in EDM is formulaic. Some are more than others, but they all are to a certain extent.

If your argument for trance being a joke is that it is formulaic, then techno, house and "progressive" are also jokes. I agree that trance is in a quite miserable state creatively nowadays though.

You really don't get it, do you? Trance has gotten so extremely pathetic that there's never any new ideas put into it, thank ASOT for that. Heck, it's even all over the commercial radio stations.

Ever taken a look into the unknown tracks forum? I listen to the samples there sometimes, and every single track sounds the same. I can tell exactly what's going to happen next in the track. And you wonder why people laugh at you when you say that you like trance...

So, Sasha, James Zabiela and John Digweed's playlists are "different" eh??

so you're bashing the entire genre "trance" by judging what it sound like today? clever.

Try digging a bit deeper and in the not so obvious places, and you'll find stuff that sounds very different from ASOT hell that you're so obviously stuck on. And stop pigeonholing me in with the fluff trance-stereotype while you're at it, cos you don't know jack about what I listen to.

Also, I dunno what radio stations you're listening to, but whenever I turn on my radio I hear Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme, Eric Prydz - Call On Me and Stonebridge - Put Em High. Is that what you call trance?

Yes. Well, Digweed is getting a bit boring nowadays, some diverse stuff on his Fabric 20 CD though. And those aren't the only DJs whose sets I listen to. Ever listened to Laurent Garnier? He's almost as "all-over-the-place" as Sander K. No hands-in-the-air anthems that you can't tell apart.

I said I was refering to the trance of today, the stuff that's talked about, a few posts ago.

...and this thread is about the more obvious trance = Airbase, is it not?

Sorry for generalizing trance.
