Officeal Hollywood Tiesto Review

It was AWESOME! Too bad it was only 5 hours instead of 6. I belive it's because the visuals were ready on time. A few problems, the line was a cluster. I really do think the lighting was not well prepared, the crap didn't work by show time, and the laser show was being blocked by the 10 TV's right in front of the laser thingamajig!

First started with DJ Mason on the decks. I have to say it was pretty good. He did a great job warming up, but then he outlived his warm welcome when at 9:45pm he was still on the decks. I do have to admit he did play some pretty good stuff and awesome on the violin. Was it just me or was playing "Catch the next train" on it?

The next thing some marching band drummers came on. They were pretty good, pretty unique for a show like this. Finally Tiesto came on. Everybody was going wild and it went non-stop until intermisson.

Now this part i NEVER heard of. Some alternative group played for about 20 mins right before midnite. I don't know if they were good or not, I don't listen to alternative music. I pretty sure they got the impression that the crowd was not an alternative crowed.

Again Tiesto came back on and was playing a bit of old, new, and some i have belive would be new. Some tracks i never heard before. Too bad i didn't get my Tiesto/Playstation shirt but you can't get everything you want in life.

Either way i have to say this year was just plain out AWESOME.

Tiesto what a night... great fun... great venue... but too damn many drugged out asian moms and dads on the damn floor. they always rub up against you like its no big deal. i had to elbow a couple of them on the head just to get them to ease off a bit. as for tiesto he threw down a great set... though at times he was lazy at the mixing end.
some of the highlights
-way out west- killa
-Push-Universal Nation (right after that crap alternative)
-Tiesto- Just be (antillas mix)
-Freefall- Skydive (.?.?..mix)
-delerium- silence
-adagio for strings (tiesto mix)
-ridgewalkers- find
and more songs but my head is hurting too much to recap. but all and all a good night except i didnt get an autograph vinyl. and the bastard didnt show up to sign autographs at the end... he just walked off leaving his loyal fans hanging. that blows so much. but anyways thats it from me

Was it the Xtra-Action Marching Band? They're a SF group.

Thanks for the review.

don't worry about the tracklist. i met 2 guys from holland that were literally pen & paper in hand writing down everything. They were out ID'ing me most of the night, was crazy. I just got back because i went to after-hours at the house of blues w/ matt darey(which was amazing). i'll write an official review later.

the "Live" radio broadcast was just a replay of tiesto's dance department set!! :whip:

Yea, wow, the real tracklist looks ALOT better than what was "live" last night. Damn indie 103.1, the MC's were even saying "look at all the beautiful women" :wtf: :whip:

woah that is ty....maybe by coincidence the set he played last night was a clone of the dance department set? and +1 for elbowing all those asian moms and dads in the heads. and i know how you feel about him not signing autographs, they woudln't let digweed play on...he got up there and ppl were going nuts screaming his name and cheering and they would not let him play. ing cocks

Well the night was great (special thanks to Michelle who hung out with me all night as we wandered around the place). DJ Tiesto was great especially his 2nd set which I felt was a lot stronger then the first.

With that being said there were several bizarre elements of the night. The first and definately silliest was the "alternative" band at midnight, (I use alternative in quotes because I dont know what the hell they were). And the Countdown sucked and according to my watch they were 3 minutes early anyway, just weird it was like they hadnt even planned it.

The crowd was mostly there for Tiesto (I say mostly because there was definately a segment that had "heard" of Tiesto and really didnt know who he was) and putting a band on at midnight just stinks of a corporate boardroom descision (I can see it now, these guys have no idea who Tiesto is or trance and are afraid they cant get enough people there to fill the place up so there like lets add in an alternative band to make sure we fill the place up...I think the same thing goes for Giant NYE though I wasnt there so not sure it was handled)

I think the same thing goes for the drummers which were better then the band IMO but still I think kinda reflects the, how do we attract more people thinking.

Another bizarre thing was on some the screens were playing scenes from Playstation games during the music which made for some bizarre/funny scenes as the latest from "KillZone or GTA" were on the tv screens.

Finally a big boo goes out to Tiesto for not signing stuff after the show, though it did look like he was making a beeline for the bathroom afterwards.

Overall a great night but just very random and bizarre in places.

"Hey is the DJ Tiesto playing right now?"

From some guy, referring to DJ Mason at the beginning.

I am confused, Tiesto played both here and in Vegas? :conf:

OMG What an awesome night it was.... I didn't have an issue with the lines. Literally it took me 3 minutes from the time I got in line, till the time I got into the lobby. Full review coming later...

Tracks I remember...

1.- Smack My Bitch Up - Prodigy!!!! (Yes, he en played it!!!!! AMAZING)
2.- Just Be
3.- Lethal Industry (W/DJ Mason doing the live Violin!)
