| Seems like Godskitchen NYC and Ikon have a gotten a black eye from this event, which is too bad because the regular Godskitchen parties (when they were at Ikon; looks like it will now be at Spirit) were actually quite good. |

You are also being stupid. GK are the promoters they arrange everything but have nothing to do with the bouncers/security. The staff at Ikon were hired by Ikon, not GK. So you saying you were mislead by GK about the glowsticks is rediculous. How is GK supposed to control/know when a few security people are preventing people from bringing in sticks just cuz they wanna be dicks.
I am sorry you had a bad time and hope you feel better soon, but this is no reason to be rude to people. When you act like this people remember you as that person who attacked people (forever). Not good for you.
The reason soo many people support the GK guys is not because "Do you all work for GK or something?". Just that many of us know them personally, and the others recognise the effort they put into their parties so they can be different and "we" will enjoy ourselves more. They actually care and listen to our comments about and make as many changes as possible. I know from experience.
Finally! Stop being soo negative. happens now "grow the hell up". You are acting like a baby that got his/her pacifier taken away. Your life is not over. You are still alive. You did not get ed up at the club. You should be gratefull.
NUFF SAID!!!!!

I appreciate you agreeing and understanding what I said. Also it was a apleausre meeting you. You are an all around cool guy, and I look forward to seeing you in the future. |

^--i believe the main reason for this thread starting was because the club didnt allow glowsticks. do you agree with this rule at all? personally i think it is ridiculous, there are FAR worse things security should be worrying about instead of glowsticks
i agree tho nsx_boy should not have taken it out on anyone on these boards. however i do share his feelings of total anger and disappointment and a club caring so much about not letting glowsticks in. there is no reasonable rationale behind it, with the exception of glowstringing... |

| yeah i really dunno whats the rationale behind not allowing glowsticks **shruggs** but it seems like most clubs these days just dont allow them. photons yes, glowsticks no...*shruggs* |

Actually I am probably one of the really cool people out there (or so I have been told). I love this scene, and a lot of the people in it. I am a very passionate person and appreciate anyone who is as passionate as I am, or is just passionate about it in their own way. One of my closest friends is a glow stick freak (LOL). It's not my thing, but because he is soo passionate about it and tries to make others enjoy themselves through his enjoyment allows me not the give a bleep.
If Glowsticking is your thing then you should be allowed to go ouot and express youorself the way that you like. I have no problem dancing my ass off while Jay (Hitikori) is using glowsticks. As long as the crowd I am with is happy I get even happier.
Glowsticks should be allowed everywhere IMO. It is self expression. I vibe off of people in the crowd. The more people are happy and having a good time whatever they may be doing the better I feel and the better I dance and so on.
I am in no way saying that glowsticks should not be allowed anywhere as I said above I think they should be allowed everywhere. BUT IN NO WAY WILL I EVER TOLERATE SOMEONE BEING AS MEAN SPIRITED TO MY FRIENDS AND PEOPLE A SERIOUSLY CARE ABOUT AS "nsx_boy" HAS. THIS IS UNCALLED FOR AND YOU CAN GET YOUR POINT ACCROSS WITHOUT BEING RUDE.
I talk all the time on this board and know how to interact with other in a way that does not offend them. If I feel I have insulted or offended them I will make a public apology to show my respect (whether they are a friend or not). nsx_boy has done nothing of the sort which tells me he has no respect.
TO nsx_boy: If you had, at the begining, said you were saorry if you offended anyone by saying anything (this being a sensitive subject and all) you would have gotten away with everything. Because you didn't you got bashed like crazy and are causing all this drama. I like to be fair, but hate and I mean hate people like you. |

Hey Everyone,
Hope everyone had a good New Years. I loved how xpander was on at midnight. (My highlight)
It's unfortunate that a fight broke out on a day where it's about celebrating and starting new. Jason Jollins and I was djing in the pinky room the whole night so we didn't hear about it until the end of the night. It's so sad. As for the Glowsticks issue, some of you know that I was once in love with glowsticks during twilo days so I support it 110%. I support anything as long as your there for the music and there to have a great time. But I want to clear somethings up and say that Exit was the one that didn't want to allow glowsticks because they use to have glowstick parties and people would get hurt (from throwing them and hitting people in the eye). I know Godskitchen changed the "glowstick ban" issue because they believed their crowd is there to have a good time and not to make trouble, especially because paul (pvd) is all about love & unity. They specifically heard the complaints on TA about the glowsticks and talked to the management at Ikon. That it was okay for people to bring glowsticks. When time came to open doors, Exit decided to do it their way. Also, to make things more clear, Exit security was hired by exit, not Godskitchen.
I came in through the back and the security guy didn't even check my dj bags or search any of my guests. I understood that I was a dj and they were my guest, but I personally don't mind getting search (as long as they're not harassing me and touching my privates) because it assures me that the security at the club is doing their job. Ikon has always been a place where I haven't had great experiences, so I wasn't to fond of the place but I gave it a chance because when I spoke to the people at Godskitchen, they weren't about what most clubs were about. They want to do their best to entertain and please the audience. They are working so hard day in and day out to make sure everything goes smooth. 3 Days before the event, most didn't even get sleep (just a short nap) because they had so much to do. I know I was literally running on no sleep and redbull.
I'd say, "I can't believe what's going through Paul's head when he was djing", but I do know that feeling. It's one of the worst feelings and it's pretty scary. I remember DJing one time and a riot broke out. I couldn't believe it! At the end it was the club managements fault for not having enough security, Not the promoters. The first thing promoters think about is SAFETY and Godskitchen does that. Many of promoters do that in North America, because it's the first rule when it comes to organizing an event.
I hope you don't judge Godskitchen over this one event and I know Paul loves his fans in New York, because his true fans wouldn't be there to fight. Every Paul Van Dyk parties i've attend since 1998, there was never an experience like this but happens. I wish there was such thing as 100% security, but there isin't. I think this experience has lead many clubs and promoters to take extra steps to assure the safety of their customers. I think it's good that this board let's people speak their mind, but should respect the other persons opinion even if you don't agree. This country is about free speech, without that we'd have no power.
Just know at the end, these parties happen only because of you. Without you guys; promoters, djs & clubs don't mean anything.

*edit* (add)
P.S. - I was so dissapointed that everyone in TA wasn't able to meet in the pinky room. I was looking forward to meeting everyone. The staff security at exit didn't let anyone in until much later so Jason and I were partying on our own djing to a sea of air. haha. (so sad) |

-Powerstar Im | Thank you for saying that. Truly that touched my heart. And thank you for expressing the my message in a different way so that others may understand.
In my book you are OFFICIALLY COOL. Nothing you can do in the future will change this. One of my very close friends is in the GK crew. I honestly have no idea how many people are involved with GK, but I knkow that my boy would not be involved with them if they were not what you said above.
I hope to meet you very soon, and I am sure I will as Jason Jollins is a friend of mine as well. I wish I was allowed into the PINK room so I could have heard Jason spin. |

powerstar im: thanks for saying all that. i have never heard anything bad about GK so i knew it wasnt their fault about the glowstick thing, especially after a promoter from this site told them about the glowstick concern which really impressed me.
i was really surprised that the club started confiscating glowsticks. ive never heard of that happening anywhere except nyc for real. glowsticks are all about the vibe and workin up the crowd into a good mood, we do not support those who battle or are negative in any way because it doesnt belong in the scene at all. we just wish nyc clubs would understand that somehow, but their priorities are all out of whack :nervous: |
