This track is one of "TRANCE"'s finest :)

Rock Your Body is definitely electroclash, and probably Punk as well.

Yeah, and some people just make up genres when it doesn't fit to any existing one.

Yeah, but there's no need in making a different genre for every little difference in sound.
AlphaStarred
...give it a name =p

theres no need to make up any new genre.
nor is this a life or death ordeal.
im just simply bringing up the idea that punk could possibly be prog.
the only thing keeping it from having the trance title is its got too many "trancy" percs, but then again many prog tunes have the same.

i would say ferry was definately trying to move 'progressively forward' with a new sound when he made this tune.
does any other trance tune sound like this? nah. i dont hear one 'trancy' synth in it at all, do you?

oh, the extended vocal mix takes punk to a more structurally progressive tune, in my opinion.
:)

Yeah...trance artists jumping on the electroclash bandwagon =! something new and progressive.

Felix Da Housecat, Ladytron, Miss Kitten, Adult., etc...all did it before Ferry Corsten. He's just using old ideas and selling it to his ignorant fans.

Are you actually claiming that any of those four artists you listed has produced a track like Rock Your Body Rock or Punk? Show me.

It's ridiculous to say that Punk is progressive. There's no progression of loops, no chord progression, no progressive trademarks at all.

It's essentially anthem trance. "Electro-trance" if you really want to be picky, akin to Tomcraft.
