techno, then progressive trance, seem to have the most elitist people in it... almost as bad as those little emo/indy rock avant garde crying little teenage pussies that sit around and listen to ty rock in their rooms and cry.

I'm sorry, but no, you are not intelligent and witty for throwing together profanity and random slander. All it does is evidence an inability to put together a valid argument.

And progressive trance after techno? What a riot! I would put progressive (house) and jungle far higher than progressive trance, though still not up to par with the insular Detroit leadership.

Haha, yeah, I'll agree with you there. Pretty decent description of me. :p

Though if you snooped around the forums two years ago you would see the full brunt of Progressive elitism. It was a daily war for months, until progheads simply gave up bashing and left for more "intelligent" places that "understood the progressive frame of mind". :haha:

You mistake me. I'm not trying to prove the superiority of techno. I'm trying to disprove the inferiority of techno. You just won't listen.

You have to keep it dj friendly, so first off its gotta be atleast 5 minutes long and this is the hard bit...as techno is based around the percusion this is how it can easily become boring, unlike in trance you could introduce some melodies but with techno as its pounding beats and bass youve gotta think of 5minutes of tricks, builds, fills and changes to keep the dancefloor happy.

Actually, I'd say this would be the techno DJ's job. For me, the good Techno tracks doesn't have much in the form of buildups, breaks, blips or other emotional tricks. I'm in no way putting down the production of techno but for the point is that the entertainment is squarly put in the DJ's lap. Techno tracks are more like tools, for the DJ to create the soundscape he feels is suitable at any given moment. Take alook at Dave Clarke or Carl Cox if you want examples. Unlike trance where the track makes most of the job for the DJ. That's why some of my DJ friends went techno once trance started going downhill in 1995. To have more to do as a DJ while spinning.

Now this thread had an interesting topic but it went south pretty damn quick. I'm not suprised, it happes quite a lot. Good qoutes is perhaps hard to find since in many interviews, the same standard questions are asked over and over. If I only had my old EDM magazines left maybe I could contribute with something actually worthwhile hehe. I'll get home and check...

Sorry, I just really really hate emo kids.

I would put techno fans as the most rabid of the bunch. Jungle is pretty bad, but then again most of them want to be gangsters... so its pretty inline with the hip hop kids and I guess Im just used to them.

I dont know, I quit this thread... its not gunna go anywhere, and Im gunna end up lookin like an ass, and other people are gunna end up lookin like asses too... so well Im just gunna leave it at that.

Im gunna still keep listening to good solid trance, wether its progressive, hard, vocal, whatever... as long as its good.

Ok, i started this thread with the topic TRANCE QUOTES. in all my life ive never seen such a hijacking of a thread.. 11 pages of !, 1 page of a couple of quotes, then 11 pages of a hyjacked topic.
This is the first thread ive started on this site and its gone ing mad . wtf.
Here i was thinkin, Now whats a good MSN nick i could have .. I know I will ask some ppl for some quotes.. So far the best one i have seen was Trance is ing good dancefloor music that messes with your head - Paul Van Dyke.. That was on the first page.... Wake up guyz, If you wanna go argue about like that cant you start your own thread and do it?.
If this continues on i suggest that a mod lock the thread or delete it.. considering it was based on a topic of Quotes but now has gone wild with everyone elses opinion on how hard techno is to make or what the difference is between progressive and psy.

BACK ON TOPIC!!! """""TRANCE QUOTES!!!"""""

Have you any idea how stupid that argument is?

Techno is a production genre. Piss easy to write, but hard to produce and get a good sounding record at the end of it.

While some people prefer to enjoy themselves and have fun on my sort of style, the more serious crowd tends to follow more progressive artists like Sasha and Digweed

- Tiesto...

(this is not a DIRECT quote, but Tijs did say that).
