Krinker's point was that an NHL size rink holds about 7000 to 8000 people no matter in which city the party is held.
che
Downsview gets my vote. I did work there for the World Youth Day and the system they had set up for that was insane...you could hear it like a mile away from the stage....sick
samhouse
metro convention center south building or north building...

And that number is VERY low, ergo very wrong Malek.

Check the boxscores from the games playe @ the ACC.

14,000 isn't even a sellout crowd there,

No sporting arena holds less the 13,000 if it wants to hold a major tenant.

no no, malek's not wrong here....

13000 seats are just that - SEATS.
the 7000-8000 is based on the RINK AREA,
which is where the stage and people would be.

u wouldnt want the stage at centre-ice and
the ppl up in the stands would you?

The stage goes @ one end, the people are standing room on the ice, and in the stands.

So 7000-8000 on the floor, + 15,000 or more in the stands = 22,000 - 23,000 minimum.

The Raptors sellout record was around 18,000 btw.

Malek, you should know better after seeing the CREAM setup @ the Bell Centre.

The capacticy will add both the floor AND the stands total together. You think the massive events thrown in Montreal would be done for under 10,000 people, when they regularily put 15,000 or more in them?

lol.. yes.. i'm lookin for a suitable venue for my synthetic lineups :D

Speaking of BLC, does anyone remember the old Hobby Building, before it was turned into Medieval Times? It was old and rundown... but also dark, cavernous, and spaceous, with an Edwardian and gothic touch. I think that would have made the perfect venue for a massif.

metro toronto convention centre would probably be one of the better venues. but the three exhibit halls can hold a maximum of 11000 people, between the 3 areas that can be separated.
if you are looking at having an overnight event, then downsview air base would be a no, no, however, they have a whole bunch of room in the buildings. one of them being the soccer "hangar".
i think sky dome would suck because it would feel empty unless you put up curtains around the whole fields so no one sees empty seats.
i hear ford is not doing very well in oakville. maybe they have a massive wearhouse that can be used :)

i also dont think that if you are going to have electronic music, that you would want to venture too far out of the city. so you pretty much have to look at indoor venues, or end the event by 11-12 o'clock.

i think the best would be to do it on centre island, but you will have to rent hotel rooms for all the residents. :)
