So thats an only with a maybe? How does that work? Why is there all sorts of gear in the background of the G and D pic that was posted? I'm just asking questions here I'm interested in exactly what they do with Live. G&D are well known producers and I'm sure they load the files for the tracks they produce into Live and sequence/remix the preformance from there using the 600 as an outboard mixer/midi controller. I don't think they go out and buy tracks on mp3 or vinyl and then load them into live like you would do with Traktor or whatever other PCDJ software. I know some people that use Ableton while doing live PAs but they have produced the music beforehand using other methods like hardware and Cubase SX, Reason2.5, etc... Thats why I fail to see how Live can replace turntables. Or how using live to preform is anything like doing a DJ set.
Mwd
altough they do play probably 75% of there own music, they still play songs that are not theirs. you can rip vinyl or cd's , create loops from that and sequence on top of another song.
G and D have access to all parts of there songs so that is a big plus, but you can chop of songs yourself with live from ripped vinyl. live is liking having 50 turntables. i dont know how to explain everything live can do, but it is amazing if you actually know how to use it. I bet you once people get past the notion "vinyl for life" this will be the future.

I've been playing with live for a few weeks now and I love it but I would never use it like traktor. If I got to the point where I was a good enough producer to where I could actually pull off a live PA using most of my original work then I would do that. I don't think vinyl is going anywhere anytime soon. You're still going to need a turntable to sample other people's songs into Ableton when you can only find the track you want on a vinyl release. Live is a great piece of kit and I'm saving to buy a laptop and a Nuo5 to integrate my live sets with but I don't see them as a replacement for decks.
Toufas
the problem is that i have a laptop already...and serato scratch live and ttx and the 2ch mixer with the fx (not the ppd01 the blue one) ....but i wont have space for all that next year...what should i get?
Zild
That sucks man. I guess its time for you to start producing on your laptop. I suggest you start lurking around the production forum. Check out http://www.futureproducers.com
