just wear any shoes. i sometimes wear my skating shoes, but just gota make sure the laces are done up so they dont come off.
some people put talcom (sp) powder on the floor. but if u get caught u will sometimes get kicked out of the club cuz it gets into the air and onto the vinyl and into the mixer and stuff, and s it up. its a real fine powder.
some people put water on the ground, but i hate that cuz its real slippery.
and some people even put duct tape on their soles.
my soles are worn out as , so i dont use anything. if u dance hard for a few nights they wear out quickly! |

| I wear my old school royals. They have absolutely no grip left on them which makes them sweet to shuffle in. |

Obviously, as witnessed by some of the more constructive posts in this thread, not as stupid as your commentary is lame

Thankyou... The shuffle was amazing three or four years ago when only a few people did it, and did it differently I might add. Now 1 in 5 people try to do it, and don't even listen to the music while they do, too busy trying to "shuffle" than dancing in time with the choons, I love seeing those who can do it, and do it with style, *bows to tachyon* but its pretty crap to see nearly everyone that tries to, make a mess of something that is really amazing to watch, choreography is for britney spears and video smash hits clips, we don't need a pre-organised dance routine to enjoy dance music.IMO |
I don't have a problem with people ranting and raving, but at least when you do, do it right and with vigour. Your rant is not only weak but completely non-sensical. Those people that can do the shuffle, and do it well, had to begin somewhere didn't they??? I highly doubt they were born with an innate capability to shuffle perfectly from the get-go, and thus, must have made a mess of something that is really amazing to watch. But guess what? They stuck to it and turned into those people that you now enjoy watching. So give us beginners a break. Yes, we'll things up a bit at the beginning, but we'll get it eventually, and turn into the tachyons of this world which you bow down to. Of course, we'll give you a kick in the crotch when you do bow down, because you failed to realize that we were the people you ranted about initially.
Furthermore, I don't see what exactly pisses you off with the fact that a local dance, tried tested and true in your own backyard, has gained international fame and popularity. Grow up and come to the realization that creating something great is bound to spread. And once it does, instead of moaning that everyone's doing it, the scene is not what it used to be, how it's not underground anymore, blah blah blah, relish the fact that some person's dancing style half-way across the world was inspired by you and your people. I know I would be damn proud.

I think the source of trevgeeza's so-called 'rant' came from the evolution of melbourne shuffle. these days, the majority of ppl who does this particular style doesn't actually 'shuffle'. they seem to move their feet frantically and totally ignored the fact that shuffle will only look good if you dance in sync with the beats.
what happened next? they realised they suck, asked for the next guy who they think can do it better, then tried to follow his footsteps. they developed a routine which will suck even more if their so-called 'mentor' turns out doesn't know about dancing.
but how about ppl who shuffle well? of course they start from somewhere. but these ppl learn from the best, the way shuffle should be done. none of those hat twirls and running man crap. the majority of ppl who claimed to be able to shuffle in melbourne nowadays seems more interested in catching their hats before it hits the ground or to do running man spins rather than keeping their feet in sync with the beats.
when i started going out to parties and witnessed the old skool style shufflers, i was struck in awe on how smooth and free flowing their styles are. no two styles are the same but you can tell the distinct feet movement that was driven by the beats. i wouldn't dare pull one of those guys aside and teach me how to do it, i never did. nothing can be more irritating than being asked to stop dancing and give a free lesson in shuffling. this is what happened nowadays, unfortunately.

if melbourne shuffle gained an international fame, sure we'll be proud. that melbourne shuffle competition? it brought much exposure to melbourne shuffle. unfortunately, the style itself has evolved too much to still be called 'melbourne shuffle'. next thing i know, i will see a video from sensation white 2006 of someone going spastic and they call it the melbourne shuffle  personally i don't care if everybody doing the shuffle as long as they do it the way it suppose to be done and not being a smart khunt about it.
my 5 cents. |

yeah i agree with you babe. i hate it when people ask me to teach them how to shuffle (not saying i'm an expert at it) but it's an individualised personal thing. it can't be taught. it has to come out naturally from that person. not that everyone should dance a particular way. i reckon if it happens it happens! |

And a whole lot of water! :stongue:
I got Royals as well...
They WERE new.. but then I forgot I had them on and went to a club...
Now they're my clubbing shoes. :)
I've never tried to shuffle properly.. but I've incorporated some of the basics into my own dancing style.
Just like I do with all the people that I see with dancing styles I like.
I don't think I've ever copied another person's style straight out.
I prefer dancing my own way and enjoying the music and atmosphere. |
