Whats the differences between the EFX-1000 and the EFX-500?
beats and beeps
The efx1000 has no 3 band eq knobs.

The efx500 does have 3 band eq knobs (isolator).

The efx1000 has a 2 bar button, while the efx500 does not (it only goes up to one bar)

The efx1000 has an extra effect called pitch echo.

The efx1000 has a new effect called Humanizer, and it has a vocoder.

The efx1000 does not have the "fuzz effect" the efx500 does.

The efx1000 has better sound quality.

Most of these differences can be seen by your eyes if you look at a picture of an efx1000, and then looking at a picture of an efx500.

The efx1000 also has a few other small things added that make it more suitable for studio use.

Oh yeah, and the efx1000 costs more than double what the efx500 costs.

I hope they end up on ebay for less than the 1K MSRP...
beats and beeps
They will sell, in stores, such as guitar center, or whatever they have in the uk...decks.co.uk or whatever for less than a thousand dollars. Products never sell for the MSRP.

You know when the cdj800 came out it had an msrp of $999.00 (apparantly according to various website)
You can buy them at guitar center for 450.

anyone know what the charachter knob does? I have an efx-500 and i have no idea what it might be used for. Also the loop or single play on the efx memory would be really nice, the loop in particular. I'd like to hear a sample of the humanizer and vocoder efx.

Is there any things that isnt in the 1000 that you consider vital and very important?
Just trying to make up my mind if the EFX-1000 is better effect wise or just when it comes to sound quality.

The efx is better effect wise, and sound quality wise...

That would be why it costs double.

on top of what beats and beeps mentioned:

you can route the effects units as you like instead of one through the other

your can kill all effects with 1 button

you can tap custom rhythms (not just beat rates)

it has a phaser

it has a jog wheel oriented phase shifter

it has a proper enveloped filter

it has 'character' knobs

it has wet/dry on BOTH sides

i dont know what beats and beeps is on :p there are MORE timing buttons (the efx500 has a 2 bar and 4 bar button), they go down much further, as well as having a 2/1 and even 8/1

it has a memory loop function

it has USEFUL vu meters

it has 24/96 digital output

it has a new jog wheel

above all, its black.

Looks like some piece of kit, Can't wait to hear the likes of Zabiela demonstrating what it can do.

I wonder why they decided to take out the isolator function, I found it quite useful on the 500.

I dont understand what youre saying?

Doesnt the efx500 only go up to 1 bar? The highest I can see on the efx500 is a 4/1 button. Isnt this 1 bar?

The EFX1000 goes up to 8/1 isnt this two bars?

I dont see a four bar button on either units.

well, i couldn't resist... I went ahead and bought the 500 since I don't want to drop the cash on the 1000. Can't wait to give it a try
