For the last time, I insist that toothpaste will work, but if you have a much more consistant acne problem, azz's idea is likely best (or some other similar treatment regiment).

hope it works out
remember, be patient

Definately get the 2.5%, but I actually use the 10% now since the 2.5% could never go that last little leg (even though it worked miracles and got rid of about 95% of the acne). They were out of stock of the 2.5% and I was fresh out, and I start breaking out again when I don't keep on it, so I went with some 10% Clearasil. I just run my face under the shower faucet, then when I get out and dry it off I put it on lightly all around, and a bit extra on the few spots I may have. It peeled a few times and got red but now it's fine. You will get red and peeled with the 2.5 anyways, at least for the first week or so, then you'll start building up a resistance.

See a skin care specialist who can give you DDF products (some have alpha hydroxy at higher than retail levels). Get MICROPEELS.

You'll be amazed. It'll change your life. Be sure to see a skin care specialist and not just someone who does facials.

please, do not use the toothpaste!

if you have sensitive skin, it is too harsh on your skin and it may dry out the pimple for one day but you will get 5 more in the one spot in a few days.

you don't want to be doing anything harsh to your face. do not wash your face 4-5 times a day, it dries it out and causes the oil to retaliate and produce more. twice a day is plenty, if you have to once after eating lunch.

the most important thing is to keep your pore unclogged and your face clean but don't over do it. your skin will over compensate.

i had acne in high school and i tried all the different things at once and ed up my face for a long time.

go to your doctor and get some advice from them, they can tell you how severe your acne is and what steps you can take to help it. 15 doesn't sound like you are over the edge into severe acne.

BTW, how old are you?

I did see a dermatologist, and she gave me... some tretonoin gel, and 200mg of trimethoprim a night. 15 pimples is a lot :wtf:

I used to have really bad acne, and now I still have acne, which sucks 'cause I eat healthy and everything, but mine isn't too bad, if you run a hand along my face or something without looking at it, you wouldn't be able to tell I had acne, but its very visible on my skin :(

But anyways, for about a year now I've been taking this cream that I put on in morning, then a different one at night, and a pill that I take twice a day ... seems to have helped I guess. But my doctor told me that NOTHING cures acne, the only thing you can do is PREVENT it, you have to wait for it to go away or some he said, which sucks for me. I don't know if those posts about tooth-paste or benzo-whatever (too lazy to look back) are perfectly legit, you guys are saying they'll completely eliminate acne (not noticable, etc.)?

according to my dermatologist, those red spots that you cant feel is where the skin is repairing itself from the bumps. If you didn't have those then you'd have little holes in your face... so they're good :toothless
Floorfiller
you know what worked well for me...that off tv called Pro Active...that really does work hehehe. i don't use it much anymore, but it got my undercontrol

and i'll second the lemon juice guy. i don't use it for pimples, but i use it at night or in the morning to close up pores...makes them smaller and your skin will look smoother...good on black heads too...

diet plays a major role in how your skin is, so i would start by drinking at least 4 full glasses of water a day. try to cut down on caffeine...hopefully you dont smoke cigs or pot, because those can contribute to bad skin.

last but not least, go to a dermatologist. if you've tried every face wash out there and every method, and you're still getting acne, then it has to do with your body's composition, not your habits, and it might not go away unless you get some special kind of soaps and stuff to meet your skin's requirements.

hope that helps!

Benzoyl Peroxide will work for about 95% of the people who try it

quote:

Acne is bacteria (propionibacterium acnes) growing in a plugged follicle. Benzoyl peroxide medication kills this bacteria well. Benzoyl peroxide first saw use in the 1930's, and remains a mainstay of acne treatment because it has proven itself to work well. To this day, benzoyl peroxide actually kills propionibacterium acnes (P. Acnes) better than any other medication on the market, prescription or otherwise. What I found is that you simply have to use enough of it. Smear a bunch of it on and you will start clearing up. Sounds simple and it is. Unlike other prescription medications, skin usually does not get worse before it gets better on benzoyl peroxide. Also, unlike antibiotics used in the treatment of acne, it is impossible for your skin to develop a tolerance to benzoyl peroxide. If it works at first, it will always work.

It has worked for me :)
just make sure you follow "the regimen" described on this page
