Are you an excessive dreamer or.... something?

I was just wondering if other people dream as excessively as I do. I wake nearly every morning having had many dreams during the night. I do not always remember the dreams, but I always remember that I did dream and usually they are fast paced, flying, floating, racing and competitive sports dreams. I don’t know if this contributes to my being tired in the mornings, but I am terrible waking up in the mornings.
Recently I have been dreaming a lot more too. This morning alone I woke up with 4 dreams running in my mind, but thinking back now I can only vaguely remember one dream where I broke my friends leg and he was telling me he would get revenge after he had been to the doctors.
In all my life I rarely recall having nightmares, but last week I felt that I had two. The first was a very short dream of watching a plane come into land which was carrying my girlfriend, and watching as it crashed to the floor. When I woke I woke with quite a bad headache, but managed to get back to sleep and it was gone by the morning. The second was on a beach looking for one of her missing friends, but as we walked through the surf onto an island of sand, I felt that this was where that person died and I felt my legs pulled back as if trying to get me off the island. But during the worst part of these dreams I can still be conscious enough to tell myself that it is all ok because I am only dreaming.
I also find when I see my girlfriend, my dreams are a lot more vivid and I tend to remember them a lot more.
I have had some dreams in the past even from over 10 years ago where I still remember some of the content.
Occasionally I talk to people and they say they rarely dream or rarely remember their dreams, so I was wondering what it is like for other people. Is there anyone out there who dreams incessantly like me, or are most people the type who do not remember their dreams?
Share your dreams too if they are interesting and you have time. |

I dreamed recently that I fell off of a looney-tunes/coyote style cliff, and missed a patch of water, so I'd re-emerge at the top and try falling again. I kept turning onto my back when I came close to the water. I must have dropped 20 or so times. Then my dream changed and I can't remember what was next. I've heard you die in real life if you die in your dream. I certainly didn't die and wasn't afraid of dying in this fall.
Oh, I searched for an analysis:
"If you dream you are falling but you are not frightened or harmed shows that you will meet with adversity but overcome it with ease. If the fall greatly frightens you then will you under go a major struggle in life. If you are injured in the fall you will lose many friends." http://www.sleeps.com/dictionary/fff.html
I had the craziest dreams when I went on the patch a few years ago. Needless to say I only used the patch for 3 days and became a non-smoker.
I've had flying dreams, too, some in an airship (zeppelin) and some like Peter Pan and Wendy, too:
"If you dream you are flying so high that you can actually touch the moon and stars this portends many different types of global disaster that you may soon hear of. If you fly high with black wings you are warned that you are headed for a let down of magnitude. Flying dreams are normally a good omen and if the flight is pleasant, with no worries and anxieties, you can look for happiness and plenty to follow. " http://www.sleeps.com/dictionary/fff.html |

My favourite dream:
I was buying something in the supermarket with my mates and, when we went to the parking lot, there was this legion of people wearing either batman t-shirts or superman t-shirts, and they all had ice hockey masks (the one Jason uses). When I looked down, I was wearing a batman t-shirt too, and so was everybody else. The legion gave us water pistols and prepared to invade the supermarket...
Get set... ready... go!
We broke into the supermarket and suddenly it had become a local TV show (Xuxa, for those who know it). There was this giant big-wheel, full of lamps and then our leader (!) commanded:
Get all the lamps... now!
We start taking the lamps out of the sockets when we hear the police sirens. I looked back and when I realised I was about to get caught, I ran as fast as I could, climbed some stairs and found myself in the school I studied when I was 9 years old. The chase had not finished though. So I kept running, got into the girl's restroom and suddenly I started to fly. So I "lied" on the ceiling waiting for them to come.
They came, looked around and, when they looked up and saw me, I woke up.

| I usually forget my dreams, but I remember a few. One thing I always think is funny is how some dreams feel like they are in slow motion. I remember dreaming that I fought a whole frat and whipped everyone's ass, but I didn't feel like there was a lot of force behind my blows. People were still flying around, but I felt like I was swinging in slow motion. |

| Yeah, I remember a lot of my dreams. I sometimes entertain my friends with dreams I've dreamt about them... Lates dream I had which was really great was that my sister somehow could fly a military jet plane so I tagged along. Very cool flying over treetops and houses and then suddenly fly right up in the sky feeling the G's. A great sense of freedom. |

i like to daydream:) it's a good stress reliever.
if you're having lots of dreams every night and remembering them, you probably have an overactive mind lately. usually when a lot is going on in your life you will dream a lot (or remember them, because i'm pretty sure we all dream every night...it's just a matter of remembering them).
usually when i'm stressed, i have pretty intense, vivid dreams...and it's always about normal stuff. well sometimes they are sort of wacky, but i can usually figure out what they mean because they are so close to my real life situations.
for example, I’ve been having lots of problems with my mom lately, and I’ve had several dreams in the past few weeks where I was screaming at her and saying really hurtful things. i even dreamt that i was hitting her violently.
I’ve also had a few dreams in the past about my boyfriend going out with his friends and doing a bunch of drugs even though I asked him not to, and I was really upset and telling him I was going to leave him on the phone, and he was too ed up to care. I was so furious! I woke up in a horrible mood and told him about them and of course he was like, “BABY! I would never do that!!” lol
i must have been having issues or thoughts about him leaving me and about drugs or something.
When I was little, I had this recurring nightmare that involved the witch from Sleeping Beauty. I used to watch that movie like 3 times in a day. Anyway, I'd be running around the house trying to get away from her, but every room I went in, she was there.:nervous:
*edit* that's what happens i guess when you let your kids watch stuff like 5 times in a row:wtf: |

I dream quite often, and most of the time they are fairly vivid...
a lot of the time i dream about being violent, be it with guns, fists, whatever, the weird thing though is, i can never do anything with them, no damage at all (confidence issues maybe? haha) |

I think my current batch of dreams can be partly attributed to my relationship with my girlfriend atm, and I went through a period last year where I was regularly having, not exactly nightmares as such, but unpleasant dreams about her.
I have always had quite erratic dreams and I have always had strong memories of them upon waking, some fade from my memory, and others have remained until now.
I also believe video gaming provokes quite vivid dreams. At periods when I am playing video games, I find that I am dreaming about myself in that game or something similar.
Oh and to slylee, I used to have a recurring dream when I was young too... recurring as in it would happen a few times a year... whereby there was this old stone wall in my primary school and I find myself walking along the top, and always as I get further and further my mind becomes vague and dizzy. I had this dream many times, but never since I left primary school though. |
