oh, and for all Canadians that are criticizing US and so on - keep in mind that if Iran retaliates with nukes, you're right next door to US. An ICNBM sent to any of the borderline states would probably mess you up good too. Your best bet is to team up with US and help us invade the world, eh? | Fat chance seeing as how they haven't come even remotely close to developing long range rockets... Nice try... you should tell the Bush's to try that ploy. Maybe they can scare American citizens this time by claiming a ghastly ICBM could be launched by Tehran.. :haha: |

Even North Korea can't reach the US! |

Theoretically they can reach Alaska... but I don't think they can reach a major city like Anchorage of Juneau. |

| they wont attack iran. bush will not attack iran during his term. if the next politician is a DEM, they will probably focus on the country and clean up the that bush left. |

| I don't see them attacting Iran either since it would not be feasible... unless things really start improving in Iraq and they can afford to withdraw troops. |

I haven't read the other posts, but my guess (and to no surprise) is that its very dependant on what the state of affairs is in Iraq. While iraq is the way it is, Bush is not bombing Iran. But then again, that's what the Iranians may be thinking, and Bush may do it anyway. Sounds like game theory. That's even before taking into account the ISraelies, which complicates things even more.
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this already, but the US and Iran may be engaged in a war by proxy already in Iraq, much like the Vietnam war, or the Afghan Russian war. Just food for thought. |

There are many options before full-out war.
They could just destory the nuke plants - buying them ten years or still Iran recovers it nuclear plan - maybe by than the Iranian civilians would have revolted. I don't believe that Iran would retaliate (well maybe with a terrorist attack).
The USA can incite a rebellion.
It could try and assasinate via cover ops a lot of the controlling mullahs.
The USA can do covert Afghan style warfare in a rebel attempt.
Lots of possibilities to look at it.
The Iranian people are some of the most Pro-Western people in the middle-east, as long as the target is the military/politicians I think there is a good chance they would rise in support during that reality regardless of what they say now. |

Supposedly they have, or are in the latter stages of developing the Taepo Dong-2 which might have a range of 9,500km, but that wont be accurate (if it can reach the third stage at all...) |

Both North Korea and Iran had and still have close ties to Russia. When they were building nuclear reactors (in both places) - who was there to help them??? good ol' mother Russia.
Russians a) have ICBM capable of hitting any city within continental US b) plenty of engineers just dying to be working again and c) are very experienced at creating covert nuclear launch points.
Can you safely say that Russians did not have their dirty little fingers in both pies and in fact have supplied both with the weapons and/or "know how" to deter the old enemy - Uncle Sam? With Russia vying for more international presense of a supercountry - its zealousness has no limits. The Syrian debt, of 10bln was just written off yesterday. wonder why? Syrians are encouraging Russia to take a bigger part in the Middle East - e.g. be the opposing force to the US/UK/NATO. As I said before - we have the front row seats to the new Cold War and possible WWIII. No wonder so many people are trying to find the "easy" way to resolve the Middle East conflict - e.g. get rid of Israel and problem will be resolved as well. A bit off topic...
I dunno, quite honestly - I'm more concerned for 200 or so nuclear warheads still missing from Russian inventory, some of them no larger than a football and can be detonated from a brief case.
Wonder how much a nuke costs nowdays on a black market?
Sweet dreams...:clown: |

Quite honestly, I was looking for Bush to FedEx the WMD's to Iraq if none were found. :D |
That's silly!
He'd use UPS. |
