Considering it's the 21st century, I believe we should move away from laws such as this, and let people pursue happiness, whether it be with a man or a woman, there is supposed to be a seperation of church and state in America, however that will never be true, becuase every politician has always brought their religious beliefs into play when making laws, and after all, America was founded on religious beliefs, but it was also founded on freedom from persecution.
Many people want equality, we would all like to believe everyone is created equal, but it will never be that way, everyone is racist, everyone is prejudice, and no matter how many gay pride parades we have, I doubt we will ever have enough votes to condone same-sex marriage.
But who decided that we should have hetereosexual marriage? Did we vote on that? I don't think so.
In the end, the matter doesn't really affect me at all, but it does sicken me at how many will straight up say they believe in equality, when they actually don't.
I don't know why its such a big issue, 2 people of the same sex getting married. Just because the bible said it was wrong? Who can even say the bible is a true piece of work? No one can.
But as long as religion is a vital part of American politics, I doubt we will ever see same-sex marriage as something legal. |

And where do farmers, politicians, police officers, etc. come from?
They're born to heterosexual couples.
Edit: not just born, but raised and socialized. Parents have the most important job in the world.
By the way, marriage pre-dates all the institutions you mentioned. |
