Some people just aren't meant to spend the rest of their lives together. People make mistakes and should be allowed the opportunity to fix them.

i've been raised in an extremely liberal setting and GBLT couples aren't anything special for me
I was actually hanging out with two friends who go to Smith (all women's college) the other day, and we were chillin in the hall talking to people and someone came in the room and saw probably their s/o and ran over and they kissed and they both looked at me like i was supposed to be shocked or something
Actually, one of my 11th grade english teachers got married last year (she's a lesbian), everyone around here was really proud of her.
The whole controversy over gay marriage really bugs me just because it always seems its a debate of conservative religious traditions vs. liberal lawyers trying to weasel their way around the conservative's wordings to make it legal for good, but thats only because its impossible to convince someone who thinks its wrong anything else. It really just makes me sick how its usually the conservative right that's always parading the flag around and saying how they believe in it, while to me it seems on so many issues the liberals are fighting their asses off for what the flag actually stands for, like equal rights and liberties. I think all minorities of every kind (sexual preference, religion, race, everything) should all get together and say we're tired of christians ruling the country and imposing their beliefs on everyone. :whip: |

I just wanted to say that divorce was the best thing for our family. Instead of always having a dread feeling, just waiting for the next fight, we could actually feel happy. My parents splitting up was really for the best.
And I like to think I'm a tollerant person. I have nothing against gay people, those I have met were like any other person. If gay people want to marry, they should be able to do it if they want... |

the main thing you should teach teach your children is too try your hardest to achieve happiness. If my parents werent happy together i would much prefer them split up then stay together just for me. |

reading some of these posts ive changed my stance somewhat.
People in GENERAL shouldnt be allowed to be married or have kids. A rigorous selective breeding program needs to be implemented and a caste system developed. Uber soldats, uber mensch. The Germans DID have some good ideas. Hell look at the Dinan M3.
Force couples who want children that havent passed the system into the shadowy underworld. The choice to live happily sterile and having sex without children is rather utopian to most people. Those select few who have passed the test dont even have to be married. A careful analysis of genetic material can be fed into a nationwide data base run by the government and appropriate female "tanks" can be selected. The child will be theirs. Who says that genetics make up a family. The family you get to choose is the best.
So youll have couples that receive a pass to have a child (the ones who desire a child will be the only ones contacted with an annual contact to see if they wish their status changed). In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) will become the norm. The rare couple of people who have both passed the test will be given the chance to procreate along the normal lines but this is discouraged. There is always the chance of a mutation, a stray sperm or egg that doesnt match up to spec. The "Nature" children will be allowed so as to let human evolve along proscribed lines. We arent so foolish as to think we can take the human race to the next step by ourselves.
There will be a drastic population drop, but after the stabilization of resources and a re-allocation of surplus the nation will enter into a new era of prosperity and power. The rigorous naturalization process and genetic screening will limit the influx of non-nationals and the 5 year minumum military enrollment from age 20-25 will make sure we have a top notch miltiary.
