The US is scared of North Korea. They arent gonna go & bulley them with air attacks because North Korea has the Nukes & that's the way they like it. Things arent going to change & North Korea will never give up their Nukes. Power for a small country is good in their eyes. |
lollerskates.
The United States has more firepower than North Korea by a LONGSHOT. There are at least a dozen of the most powerful, advanced nuclear submarines in the world parked about sixty miles from where I'm sitting right now, in fact. That fleet alone would be enough to reduce North Korea to... uhm... nothing?
I'm not saying that I think this will come to military conflict. On the contrary, North Korea is blowing smoke up everyone's asses. Sure, they have a bit of nuclear technology... but they were also one of the last nations to jump on that bandwagon. They're just trying to assert themselves as a world power, which they clearly aren't. This issue will be resolved within the forseeable future. Korea will be forced to disarm, guaranteed.
China, on the other hand... that's not a country I would want to around with as far as military power is concerned. They've got some nasty in their arsenal. |

| typical American mentality, you are brainwashed to feel threatened from nukes so that you take your mind away from the little things that will impact your lives much more than some rusty atom bomb in a third world nation. |

Punisher's got it right. nK would turn into a lunar landscape in hours with a massive US counterstrike if they dared to flash one of their nukes in an aggressive move. China is the second most powerful nation on earth. Everyone's overlooking the big picture. Japan rearming with nuclear weapons in response as a real threat to the entire Pacific region. Think about it.

US aint gonna do .
The only reason Bush went after Iraq is because he knew for a fact that Saddam Husein didn't have any gear to retailiate with.
Even dubya is smart enough to realize that invading that speck of land just might mean a nuclear missile or two heading right into Hollywood.
Good for North Korea, US is getting too full of itself |

Do you think China wouldn't help NK? I think that's important to take in account. But i really hope this gets settled without bloodshed. |
There was a discussion about this in the political forums a while ago. NK will never attack the U.S. because if they did, China wouldnt have it. they depend way to much on China economically and politically, and China will never come to their aid because a large percentage of their economy is credited to exporting goods to the U.S., so China would never take aggressive action against the U.S. |

Japan will defend herself. The US is pulling troops out of South Korea. The brigade it deployed to Afghanistan will not return to Korea and the US may send the remaining 2ID manuever brigade elsewhere on a non-returning mission as part of an overall strategy of troop withdrawal. Kinda makes sense. We can put force on the ground fairly quickly these days and don't need an indigenous force suffering first strike blows from a nK attack. If the US would counterattack as a result of a nK offensive at the south, we could attack them directly by lodging offshore forces in the north where it would hurt them the most instead of attacking them from the south upwards against the layers of defensive barriers they have erected over the past 50 years.
