new rule? (pg. 3)

the whole point of this rule is to stop people using the TL forum as a advertising forum for their radio show.
There is not a problem with posting a TL to a radio show, just post it AFTER the show has taken place.
People who post TL threads in advance (with the possible excption of bigger events were someone may choose to orginise the track list thread (bit like raversurge did that trance energy when he fell for all the fake ID's)) are only posting the thread to advertise their show.
I hope that makes sense to you all, and you can see that this rule is in place to prevent people using the TL forum as a advertising forum. |

One thing to say here is that I don't care if the TL is posted and updated during the show. I mean it's obvious that the reason this is done is to promote their shows (which I understand), but if you want to advertise, there is a section for it. NOBODY is trying to not have you advertise your and get listeners, but if you want to advertise, there is a place for that, and the TL forum isn't the place.
So I don't get why everybody has such a problem. Well I do get it, but it's not really that big of a deal TBH, at least over on my side. We're not trying to stop anyone from doing what they do, just trying to keep things a bit more stable.

for s sake. its more convienient for everyone if adverts are posted within the tracklist thread. why would anyone have a problem with that? so it means the thread will take 0.5 seconds longer to load and take upa bit more of your screen and will mean that you have to drag your finger further over the mouse wheel to get to the end of the post... but really.. so what? who does it offend? this is just pathetic... |

Your beating a dead horse Mike.
TL is for tracklistings, adverts are to be posted in the MD thread. This is how things will be when the radio promotional section goes up (or differently, not sure yet), so if that's the problem here, go into the site suggestion section and complain in that thread etc etc that you don't agree with the section because that's how things will be indefinitly, especially when the radio section goes up.

so to stop spam, your suggesting that people post 2 threads instead of one? awsome idea, i congratulate you, by telling people to post half of the info in one thread and one in another, you are making everyones life most convienient, thankyou.
im going now, becasue clearly, although most people who have posted here agree with me on this, nothing is going to change, good bye :) |

hey JayD - quick question if you don't mind - I have only read the first few posts of this thread so I'm not trying to jump in the middle of anything, I just know you're watching this thread and I have a couple clarification questions because I want to stay within the new policies :)
I'm half asking for myself and half asking for all the people who post ETN show tracklists I want to make sure THEY follow the new policies as well.
1) how long before a live show begins are tracklists allowed to be posted?
I completely agree that posting a tracklist for an upcoming show many hours or days in advance is "advertising" and inappropriate for this forum.. but is there a specific cutoff or rule regarding this? is like.. 1-2 hours prior ok or must the show begin before a tracklist thread can be created?
2) I saw on the first page people mentioning advertising in the threads... is it ok to post a show's schedule, website and/or tune in links in the tracklist?
As long as the answer to question #1 is followed, are we allowed to post ANY information about the show? For example the website or tune in links? I wouldn't think that posting a link to tune in to the show you're looking at the tracklist for is inappropriate, but I haven't seen any specific rule regarding this so I want to make sure...
if you wonder what I mean, take a look at any of the tracklists I've posted.. I usually just give the show's schedule.. for example for GreenWave I put "wednesdays at 12:00 eastern on www.etn.fm" and then post the tracklist... and the tune in links are in my sig... is this still ok? or for other people who post tracklists if they post which station it's on and when... is that type of thing ok?
the main reason I ask is, I am trying to build my bittorrent downloads of the shows EARLY, and I always link to the tracklist thread on TA (trying to advertise for and drive traffic to TA) it would be nice if I could have the tracklists to link before the show starts, even if just by an hour or two, rather than having to wait until the show is in process before building the torrents.. or not linking the tracklists at all :( |

E-vangelist,
We just want people to use their discretion, that's all. As much as people would like you to think how stupid they are, they really aren't. They know why things are being done the way they are, they just choose not to follow it.
Just use your discretion man.. I'm sure you guys know what advertisment is and what tracklistings are.
In response to what I just said "They know why things are being done the way they are, they just choose not to follow it.", this means that people know they can't / couldn't post threads in the MD, so they started to use this section as an alternative.
Before you couldn't post in the MD, this was used as just the tracklistings and the stream links. That's how we want it to be, the whole point is to not have this section turn into an MD.

Loooool!
Funny ;)
Yes there´s ONE Topic in Music Discussion , but nobody looks into it, why????
Most people like to have the information here.......
and its easier to handle one Topic at Tracklist then 2 in two diffrent Sections, needs less space and people / fan´s are lucky to find their Topic to post in........... ;)
but why has it to be convinienced and funny here??
btw
you´re telling for weeks there will be a sup Forum, but WHEN!!!??? In Years...........???
Pah...........
P.s. I need the answer of Evengelists Posting, too!!!
