Heh, funny story. :P
How you look doesn't really matter, as long as you do the exercise correct.
Going to gym can be really fun, because some people build their ego, not their body. :D
It's unbeliveable how wrong people can do some exercises... And just to look cool.
Bad example:
Guy was doing a bench press and he lyed down on a bench and lifted his butt while "benching".
Yeah, he can bench 20-30 lbs more that way, and look cooler, perhaps.
But he can seriously injure his back as well... :tongue2

Btw, when I do squats, I go a bit below quads parallel with floor.
And I do 155-200 lbs.
Not bad for a 15 year old, eh? :tongue3
(My weight is 135 lbs.)
Orbax
howlong you been doing them?

dayamn homie!

15 yrs?

i just started hittin the gym regularly (every other day) this year... im a pretty scrawny guy. anyways i think i made an ass of myself too not asking anyone for help... i just walked in and started doin machines like i knew what i was doing. i thought it wasnt obvious until today hahaha...

some girl i knew walked in- never saw her there before... anyways she just did the same thing i did and prob. thought she was clever but man i could tell she was new... it was akward. i wanted to help her and tell her its alright to ask for help but every time i went to approach her she acted extremely uncomfortable.

anyways i got some help today from one of the gym trainers... for the pec deck i didnt have my head back so that sucked...

ive a question while this thread is still navigable and active- could anyone describe the correct technique for a bicep curl? i just go from down to up but i only feel it afterwards in the part of my bicep closest to the middle of my arm... :wtf:

meh... gyms the place to be though. i feel better every time i go just because i know that im doin something for myself. even if results arent evidant right away, you know that your healthier for it.

hehe come on now work out thread for that! this is squats and funny stories :p

I love when taking mates to the gym for the first time that think they are tough and strong.

There is this great triceps exercise I do (Orbax can probably tell me the name) where I lay on my back, elbows in the air, palms upward, and with a barbell extend it behind my head and then extend upwards.

For the inexperienced gym junkie it seems pretty easy, but their elbows are not used to this kind of pressure.

The funniest part is that for the next 4 days they will struggle to put on a t-shirt because they get a form of tennis elbow where they will find it impossible to straighten their arms past about 90 degree rightangle. Its really funny watching someone that can't straighten their arms.
Orbax
lol yeah skull crushers. I had a real hard time with them at first too. my biggest thing was making the elbows bend parallel with my body fixed it good. But yeah that happens pretty much no matter what lol.

Hehe, the funniest I ever saw was in my home little country town I trained with this natural body builder guy that was an addict. Like on his day off he'd drive 1 hour to train at a different gym. He was ing buff.

Well, he was at work and copping continually from this huge co-worker, who kept telling him that body builders were pussies and weren't that strong, and how he was heaps tougher etc. So the body builder challenged him to come and do a session.

So here you have a big tough guy that had never worked out before doing a workout with a guy that trains 7 days a week.

When I arrived at the gym he was squatting about 250 pounds. Then he moved onto bench more weight than I had ever seen on a bar before, and the body builder was a complete **** and made him exercise every muscle group at weights he was even struggling with. He was doing situps on a crunch bench with 20 kilo dumbells in his hands. Seriously I have never seen someone do this crazy , and it was his first time in a gym.

And anybody that works out knows that its pertty easy to get through a work out but you pay for it the next few days, and no matter how strong you are generally muscles you use in the gym are completely different to normal strength.

I saw the so-caleld tough guy in the street a few weeks later and he said that his legs were that e dhe couldn't even sit down on the toilet, he would just kind of fall down. And had to take the week off work because he couldn't even dress himself. He was hunched over becase his stomach was so sore, and moving his fingers was a painful experience.

Haha, I laughed.

Never feel embarrased about squatting. Squatting was invented ages ago & is as old as the turd.
