Blast hits clubbers in Tel Aviv
A suicide bombing has killed three people and injured about 30 outside a night club in the Israeli coastal city of Tel Aviv, police have reported.
The bomber set off a device as people queued to get into the club, which is in a popular seafront area, a police spokesman told Reuters news agency.
Two Palestinian militants groups have each claimed responsibility.
Such groups had been observing an unofficial truce with Israel for some three weeks.
Whoever is behind it is seriously attempting to sabotage the efforts being exerted to revive the peace process
Saeb Erekat
Palestinian negotiator
The bomb went off at the entrance to a club called The Stage on Herbert Samuel Street, close to the promenade, Tel Aviv police chief David Tsour said.
"We passed the crosswalk and suddenly there was a huge explosion," an unnamed witness told Israel's Army Radio.
"The whole area of the club was destroyed. Debris fell to the ground and cars were smashed."
'Sabotage'
Militant attacks fell away in the days after Israel and the Palestinian Authority reached a truce at a summit in Egypt on 8 February.
Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat condemned the attack.
"Whoever is behind it is seriously attempting to sabotage the efforts being exerted to revive the peace process and should not be allowed to succeed," he said.
The Islamic Jihad group said it had carried out the attack, in a statement carried by Reuters news agency.
"This is a martyrdom operation that shows we are not committed to the ceasefire because Israel is continuing to kill and arrest Palestinians," it said.
But AFP news agency received another claim from the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades group. |

I was in Israel and Tel Aviv for all of August last summer and its a shame that things like this happen. It's such a beautiful country and the heart warming city of Tel Aviv is awe inspiring along the coastline.
My heart and prayers go out to those innocent ones who have to endure such atrocities. |

Kill palestinians? the only killing of palestinians as of late was of those that are armed trying to infiltrate borders.
Arrest palestinians? Didn't Israel just release around 900 of them?
Ironically, just a few days ago, a border infiltrating terrorist was killed who was actualy one released by Israel during a deal a year ago. What was the this deal? several hundred prisoners(dont know exact number but many of them with blood on their hands) for the bodies of 4 dead soldiers!
Anyway, I kinda hope Israel remains cool about this cause things have been pretty quite lately(knock on wood) |

Yup. Abbas is a good man, and the region's last hope for peace. |

It's because of attacks like this I am in favor of Israel’s policy of state sanctioned assassination of known terrorists. These barbarians should be hunted down and executed without trial. They deserve nothing more then staring down the barrel of a loaded gun, counting the seconds till they are liberated from our midst.
Peace be unto all the innocent who perished and the family of those who survived this cowardly act of terrorism. Palestinians should be the first one's to take the imitative and flush the people who committed these dastardly deeds from their safe havens and hand them over to the Israelis so they can stand trial for their actions. Probably won't happen though, which only goes to show how one bad element can disrupt a fragile peace in the Middle East. |

Sorry, that was lame...but then again, who cares if it was him, or DJ NoName. Acts like the one today hurts Isreal, Palestine and all the young clubbers who go out to a venue expecting to dance and listen to some music.
The maddness has to STOP ! |
