You see how ridiculous this argument gets. Racial equality carries the implication that a person's race is an arbitary criteria, therefore it makes no sense to "force" the demographics to be equal in any specific field. What you're talking about here - choosing people's jobs for them (or pushing them very forcefully into or out of a given field) merely in order to eliminate statistical demographic inconsistencies - is COMMUNISM. Make any rejoinder you want, the fact of the matter is that a "statistically and demographically equal" society is a communist one.
We should strive for independence, not homogenity. Every ingredient is equally important in a cake, but you don't use equal proportions of all of them, otherwise it turns out as . |

that's simply NOT the way that affirmative action policies are meant to be implemented.
the idea is that with equally qualified candidates, you'll choose the minority...ie. while it's still "discrimination", their is no hiring of less qualified candidates going on.
by not even taking applications from non-visible minorities...there is no protection against having less qualified people hired...that is at least as big an issue as the discrimination, IMHO. |

Doesn't it happen with the hiring of Firemen,Cops..?...They want a proportion of women & minorities & so some white male who fits ALL the requirements/tests & yet is rejected because of skin pigment...it angers me to no end as well...At the TTC, at the bottom of the application form it says "Equal opportunity employer"....my ass:whip: ...its just discrimination in fancy writting:mad: |

At the end of the day finding a job comes down to networking. Many jobs are found through family friends or relatives etc... Many of my friends who were white when they were in university whatever got wicked jobs through thier dads friends at the office or golf club or whatever. However, due to historically low levels of education and employment many of my aboriginal or black friends parents didnt have those networks and got stuck working at jobs in the summer.
Really employment equity is only seeking to provide those same level of networks for other races that us white people enjoy.
I got my job because of some of my dads friends from his office. It was not even posted so whatever.
Honestly at the end of the day us white people got it easy in comparision to other racial groups i dont care what you say. When i look at some of the hardships some of my aboriginal relatives faced in comparison to my experience its sad. I see the need and personally think that allowing a speacial condition to allow only blacks or aboriginals to apply for several months will not cause a major decline in the standards of living for white north america. Howewver, it might make a difference in the minority community. If we are that selfish to not share in the oppurunties offered in this country with other racial groups then we are a society in decline. |
