Howewver, it might make a difference in the minority community. If we are that selfish to not share in the oppurunties offered in this country with other racial groups then we are a society in decline. |
OK so minority groups clamour for ages to try and get equality and they get it. So then they clamour for an advantage because some how they deserve it for past wrongs? NOPE i dont think so. I have it easy because im white? Really? Now who is the one being racist and making assumptions based on race?
Here are the problems with your theory:
So a minority gets a job because they arent white:
1 - how would that person feel? Really? They are still being treated as a substandard because they wouldnt have had that job unless they were a minority
2- how do minorities who get the job based solely on merit feel? Treating minorities different in some cases stigmitizes EVERYONE. So that person who got the job based on merit will still always be looked at as that "token black guy" for example. Thats hardly fixing the problem is it?
3- What about the white guy who doesnt get the job even though he is more qualified? How is that person supposed to feel? You talk as if jobs grow on trees. Well they dont. White, black or purple its very hard to find work. You think that its no problem because "whitey" will just find another job? Not only is that not the case but that my friend is called racism. |

This guy I work with just graduated from this school he was taling Police Foundations at. The fitness tests(chinups, running, situps, pushups) were so hard he almost failed his entrance exam. And this is a guy that had the chance to get on the national waterpolo team. And then he told me that the women had a different version of the test, a waaay simpler one. Man I wish I could remember the exact numbers, but i can guarantee you that no woman had to do 20 consecutive chinups to get in the program like he did.
And these are people studying to become cops!
One of these women may one day be the only thing between your girl/mother/sister and some thug with a baseball bat.

As to multiculturalism....he intro'd that bc he wanted to create a unique Canada and his ideal was based on assimilation. The govt. powers that followed were the ones who trashed and made it into what it is today...there's your whole host of reverse descrimination.
And FYI...Trudeau never gave full support to Chretien. They had different belief's and ideal about Canada. as does our current pm with chretien and predecessors.

Not sure what test he was referring to, but the only "official" physical test required in order to get into the Ontario Police College is called the "PREP" - Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police. Details can be found here:

...there is no chin-up requirement, and there is no difference in requirements between men and women. The tests outlined there seem to be reasonable in terms of what a typical officer would face in the line of duty. While chin-ups may be an indication of physical strength, I fail to see the relevance of that particular exercise movement in terms of situations an officer would face. The ones outlined in the PREP test are much more applicable.
It is also noted that the Ontario Human Rights Commission has determined the PREP test to be a bona fide occupational requirement (something I alluded to in an earlier post), which means the Commission recognizes that these are legitimate tests that have a rational basis, and are the same for men, women, minorities, what ever. |

There's really no two ways about it - "disadvantaged" is a completely subjective and arbitrary term that has, for all intents and purposes, been subtituted with "minority". So as you can see, the Charter explicitly states that the Equal Protection right is null and void for affirmative action programs (affirmative action being, again, something completely arbitrary). Voiding the Equal Protection clause under "special" circumstances is, in layman's terms, state-sanctioned discrimination.
You can defend Trudeau all you want, but it was his Charter of Rights that eroded our constitution. We had a document that was just fine - it was called the Bill of Rights. Trudeau's Charter of Rights took an originally sound constitution and warped it into an imposition of enviro-socialist beliefs on every Joe Citizen. |
