Hey whats up,
I'm kinda new in this section of TA, mostly been in the DJ Promotion section, so some of you might have seen me around there, but this is a production my friend and I have been working on. Our first completed track. Just hoping to get some feedback. Some problems I noticed was that the kick is was too weak because the level on that channel was probably too low. I'm planning on re-recording it at a higher volume later. Also, the bassline sounds kinda thin... any suggestions on how to beef it up a bit? Thanks for any responses
the direct link for our track is
***EDIT**
This is the new updated version for anyone who's interested. It sounds a bit messier, and the kick is still weak, but we're going to have a friend come in to do a mixdown/master. Hopefully you guys like the changes. (Strings in the break/ending, extra guitar melody, extra arp toward the end)

I prefer soil grown, but hydro works too! ;)
Well as you said, the kick sounds a little thin and needs a little more punch. And i'm not sure about using that reverb over the whole track, it's nice on the percs at the beginning, but maybe broaden it a bit & cutoff the low freqs from it?
Break; Melody starts off real nice, let's see how it progresses?
Yeah... sweet!
Real nice track imo. Imo there could be a few things to fix, but that could be what your style is all about, so go with what you think feels right for you!
Keep it real nice and chilly... (wish i had a fattie before listening to this!) :tongue3 |

=) thanks for listening to it. I'm glad your liking the melody. If you don't mind, could you tell me which parts you would fix? I'd like to hear input from different people just to get different opinions and ideas with what to work on. As i said before its our first completed track so we're not really sure what a finished track should sound like. Thanks again.

Sic tune buddy. The breakdown is a little long. It would have been sweet if you had built it up some more during the breakdown, created more intensity and then let it explode (not too much like a big trance tune but like a heavy prog tune). If u beef up the end some more by having the outro heavier than the intro i think that your tune would be huge. But then again i know nothing about production.
Great job

Superior tune in my opinion. As was said in a previous post, good, relaxing song. Kinda reminds me of some older stuff from around the late 80s/early 90s with some 2005 flavors added in. Great as an intro tune, and if its released on vinyl, I'll be grabbing a copy :p.
Though, there is one thing I would like to mention. I hear this in a lot of tracks, watch your EQing. many artists tend to have the 1500Hz band turned up a bit too high. In your song, 1500Hz is up a little too high along with the 500Hz band. Just needs some mastering work, thats all. I'd love to work on the track if you'd let me, but probably little chance in that ;).
Cheers,

hey guys, thanks for so many comments...
DickieThijssen: i don't mind at all... :D
Funnymancam: I agree that the break is kinda long.... we are considering adding some more intensity to the rest of the track after the break also. we'll probably let this track sit for a little bit and then go back to it in a couple weeks.
IDarkISwordI: We wouldn't mind you working on the track. We're not too knowledgable about mastering yet. Basically we ran it through ozone. From the clip that you made it sorta sounded like it deadened and compressed the track though so if you've got a longer copy i'd definitely liked to hear it. |

good ideas here
break is too long
doesn't seem to go anywhere afterwards...for a break that long, there needs to be some sort of payoff
but other than that, good ideas |
