^^^^ As a scandanavian myself, I'll say that is a load of crap. Denmark has never thrived on oil/gas export, and I think the same is true of Sweden and Finland (although St. Andrew and Vesa would probably know better than me). Denmark has exported mostly agricultural products and fish, only recently starting to get its main income from exporting wind mills.
Further, even if your assumptions were correct, the same argument could be used for burrying the notion of capitalism: "The US - which is usually hailed as capitalism being succesful - has benefitted enormously from not having had a war taking place on it's soil for more than a century. Furthermore, it has had the advantage of huge amounts of untapped resources and comparatively cheap land prices."
Finally, as with Germany, the Scandinavian countries are not socialist. We may be left-wingers (according to the US definition - but then again, which non-nazis are not :)), but I don't think that there has ever been a socialist government in any of the countries.

education is free, because u don't have to pay money specifically to the school, to be able to go there. the taxes u pay go to many things including education, but if your money isnt 100% devoted to education, u are not paying for your education. |

midle class americans probably have a higher standard of living, lower class swedes however have a much higher standard of living than lower class americans. |

It's the ideology.
those “bums” are “produced” by the system. The system runs according to an ideology which (amongst many areas) advocates how the economy should be organised. |
