cool idea, doubt radio 1 would would comply but i reakon it could be easily sorted for an etn/di/taw (when its back) slot :)

Nice idea, but it also presents a problem. The DJs here are very diverse, many of us enjoy and spin genres other than Trance. Some may spin Progressive House/Breaks, Acid House, Hard House and maybe even Drum 'n Bass. ETN/DI/TAW are primarily Trance, even moreso "ASOT Trance" as some have put it. If the winning DJ spun, say, Acid House, what sort of airtime would they get? |

yea i could see those guys getting in on it. even if radio 1 isnt up for it you guys should still do it. you could probably get the voting done alongside the track of the year voting on here. |

Well thats wot the essential mix is about....you will find any style of djs on it. One week theres a drum n bass dj the next its..house, or trance, breaks, etc. Play what you want in the mix and post it...i think one of if not the most important thing about this idea is to have diverse tastes and styles. Otherwise we will all post the same kinda mix lol.
So only one mix per person...or wud u like the option of having a second(but no more than 2!) And wot do u think of the parametres i mentioned about having to include an intro or outro, or one classic track. Good/bad idea?? |

jamiepollock643 > Thats quite an intresting idea you have put forward !
In fact its probably one of the very few posts that has caught my attention. Fancy being played on Radio 1...the most coveted of all goals!
As long you keep us uptodate on whatever news you get from Tong's crib. Failing that we could start up one of our very own EM
;) |

Yeah, I know what it is. ;) I was just referring to Luke Terry's post about how the mix could also be streamed on ETN/DI/TAW, and how I thought that those stations were, for the majority, trancer/"asot-trance" only, and if a DnB mix were to win, it could present a problem trying to get it aired.

I'd definitely go for one mix as that's how the real EMs go, until of course the DJs are asked back. I like the intro, outro, and the classic ideas. |

With reference to your paremeters, i don't think they are too restrictive and could potentially produce some intresting results.
However a good DJ would make any set submitted to the EM commitee a special fusion of baets which work in harmony with the mood and in particular, to mark the occasion. As long as we don't put too many restrictions we could be on a winner.
Also most EM are of current/future tracks...Mr O' Bir set was an excellant example of this fact.

Some Suggestions:
Having an EM "Committee" would be a bad idea. There should be a way for everyone to listen to all the sets and download them. The audience should be the decided and not some group of judges.
All mixes shouldn't have to consist of an intro or outro. Mine probably would but it shouldn't be a requirement.
Everyone who applies should be put on the first page until we get 52 candidates. Then by the number in which they applied should coincide with their week. (ie: 4, 4th weekend of the competition)
All mixes should represent who that DJ is and not what neccesarily is hot at the moment, although that would help. I just think that there are many trance DJ's in here that will all play the same tracks in a random order. I think everyone should strive to be different in this competition.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
