Nicely put steven and janos...I dont think you NEED to include those intro, outro ideas etc if u really dont want to but it wud make it interesting to see the dif types of intros people come up with, or wot classic track they wud think of using.
I think the 52 candidate idea etc isnt that good, shud it not be open to anyone who wants to post a mix...doing it the first way wud mean alot of people missing out :( Altho it mite get a bit messy if everyone just posts a mix link with the tracklist and then replies about mixes all in one...thats gonna need a wee bit of thought.
I think music wise...just play wot u like, but try and be original with it. :p |

I honestly that it would be hard to fill the 52 week candidate.
I just personally think it shouldn't be a buttload of mixes poured in at once. Instead it should be one per week so everyone hears out everyone. If i saw 10 mixes posted in one day I'm guaranteed to skip out a couple. I think some conformity with when mixes are released will be good. |

True.
People should sign up for a specific week to sumbit a mix. I think max. should be like 3 people for a week.
I personally don't like the constraints of using a 'classic' song, etc. I would say just do a 2 hr. mix. |

Yeah the 2-3 people a week posting a mix is a good idea. How wud u regulate that tho? Ill open the official thread during next week. Give some more time for any other ideas or wotever....
The idea for the intro/outro/classic track was to keep them in someway original, cause if theres 2 mixes with nearly the same tracks the intro/outro idea wud make them stand apart a bit more...but like i said if you dont want to do that then just submit a 2 hour mix :p |

this is a very interesting idea hehehe...
however...
am i the only one that sees some kinda potential problems using the term essential mix? i don't know if tong and crew would make anything of it, but it could be a possible issue and i'd hate to see a great idea shot to hell because of legal reasons...i would perhaps suggest something related to the site name... |

Instead of voting at the end of the year we should vote every month.
Every week a max. of four DJ's can sumbit a mix for voting. DJ's would need to sign up in advance. DJ's can only sign up once a year. Only one entry per year. TA memebers with ealier registration dates get preference over TA with newer registration dates. for example, TA member registered in 2001 would be the first to sign up and/or pick a date to sumbit a mix. than the next day members registered in 2002 would get prefernce. Etc. It should take 5 days to do the rolling registration ( i.e. day 1-2001 TA's day 2-2002 TA's day 3-2003 TA's day 4- 2004 TA's day 5 -2005 TA's ) If any open spots are still available after day 5 anyone can sign up that didn't.
At the end of the month we vote on the best mix out of the 16 ( 4 max DJ entry's TIMES 4 weeks in a month). You can do a simple Poll to find the best mix.
From January to November. 11 winners.
Than in December the 11 winners would sumbit a new mix. One final vote than would be made on December 31. Jan. 1st a winner would be announced.
=================
Now here's the problem.
How can you make sure people don't register bogus screen names and sumbit fake votes for a mix? Or how can you make sure you don't get a bunch of friends voting for a specific Dj even though he/she sucks big dick?
Or
If you prefer a judge panel instead of a poll, you need to make sure the panel has a diverse body so that no one particualr style or idea is favored amongst the judges.
The other problem with a judge panel , as seen with the MP3 TA contest, is that people don't have enough time to judge every mix and the final results take years to be calculated. :D A poll amongst memebers can be more efficient.
These are some ideas to think about. |

Sounds very good but I don't really like the idea of making a second mix after being qualified. It should be the same mix that would be put in a second poll with the other 10 qualified and then check the results. And I'm wondering if it shouldn't be like a normal contest with everyone submiting his mix before a dead line, and then the TAs voting. If it works for competitions, why not for this! I think the debate is only begining :). But that's always what happens when good ideas come out!

Let's do it guys! |

Get 52 people signed up then one gets uploaded and is available for dowload trough somewhere for 7 days until the next mix is put up.
get someone to make jingles i.e. Trance Addict Essential Mix.
also coud make a little website with a calendar of upcoming mixes etc. |

Blue balls, nice ideas....i was thinking about the exact same porblems you posted. Fake names for the same person, friends voting etc etc...
If it was to be done like 1 person submits a mix, then the next week another person submits a mix..the first persons mix shud still be available to get.
What about a max of 2 people submitting a mix per week. Instead of the 1 per week. And have a vote at the end of the year for wotever one u liked, or u cud do the knockout way of voting for 1 of 4 every month but then the 3 that didnt win wudnt have a chance to go on to the final so i dont really like that knockout-ish way of doing it.
How many people are gonna submit a mix? cause if its way over 52...lol clearly i didnt think of all the issues before the first post but with suggestions etc it will all work out.:tongue2 |
