that was the dirtiest darkest I've ever heard Mark Oliver...DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY at the end of the night :whip: loved it!

this was one of those times where I was going out just to catch a DJ I'd been wanting to hear for a while, but kept missing...yet not intending to stay for a full-on night of partying. ha!
Mark was dropping some sick breaks when we got in...I can't remember the last time I've heard that...but I just knew we were in for some fun f***ing music, given that beginning. MO never ceazes to impress...this guy can seemlessly spin on a bill with anyone, it seems...breaks, techno, trance, whatever...huge *thumbsup* for MO tonight.
No TAs in sight...James Zabiela comes on...the place goes nuts...great stuff...I can't ID his stuff...but it kept me on the dancefloor all night without pause...
quiet TA turnout...too bad, quality night! said hi to LKD who walked by, but he suddenly realized his camera batteries were missing, ran off, and I think that was the last I saw of you dude, lol...met Ubertrancer (Alex?) and Chanoa (Andrea?)...sorry if I messed up your names ;) *awesome* meeting and partying with you guys...thanks Andrea for the water-the-dancefloor idea near the end :D nice to meet Karim...and Dave...and GRAHAM appearing near the end...always fun! Sorry if I'm forgetting anyone...Jay, always great to party with you.
sick sick music...never would I have thought I'd have enjoyed a night that was pretty much mostly breaks and techno...but this was f***ing great...nevermind that I already thought his essential mix is one of the best of last year, I have new respect for Zabiela...he, along with Sander, are definitely my favourite non-trance DJs.
tune of the night (can someone ID it for me?)...I think Zabiela dropped a remix of Depeche Mode's "World in my Eyes"...*I died* :toocool:
what an unexpectedly amazing night with great music...couldn't get off the dancefloor. :toocool:
9.5/10 (if it had been trance, a perfect score would be possible :D ) |

i thought the first hour of his set was amazing then it all went downhill, I hate buildups that turn into nothing. I had agreat time tho. Only knew 2 tunes

I LOVE Zabiela, but he does occasionally tend to get weird.
When he's dirty, he's one of the best:eyes:

finally broke my guv mainroom hiatus , promised myself never to go back after the sasha disaster party, but this is JZ we're talking about and i'm glad i did.
first thing that i noticed is the ratio of asian people has multiplied by 10x (no offense) , i think they should rename guv to The Guverment of Republic Asia or simply call it chinatown.when getting out of the place around 5:30 a.m i decided to exit by the bar, and the whole strech from the patio door to the main door was absolutely packed with asians, not even 1 non-asian!!!:eyes: :eyes: :eyes:
walked in around 1:00 a.m as JZ was just going to start, looked around to see any TAs but didn't find any familiar faces, was kinda let down that despite John's promise about monitor screens, there was none, and having James in the DJ booth just killed the vibe, imo, he's one of the very few intractive DJs and they should have had him on the floor or at least the stage so peeps could see his hands at work weaving through mixes.
overall i liked his set more than his last System set, thought he started a bit slow , but around 3 , his set just took off and never settled down again. highlight of the night for me was hearing kick-ass remixes of :
UNKLE - "REIGN" (i think it was the anagram /false prpophet remix or maybe JZ's own reaks remix)
FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON - "Papua New Guinea (Zabiela breaks mix ???)
DEPECHE MODE - "World in my eyes" (Zabiela remix/cicida mix??)
he just killed the crowd with those fantastic tunes, well done and scratched to perfection ;)
MO came on and man what a kick-ass set!!

i just couldn't stop dancing to those banging techy tunes, he's really amazing and so versatile, but sadly underrated.
i didn't get to meet any TAs this time, due to dancing like hell - except LKD at coatcheck fighting with the staff for his life (jk) and i think i might have seen karim from a far distance, but not sure.
for all of you who might have seen me i was the tall guy with the smoked orange t-shirt and the pony tail, dancing like crazy on the stage, please say hi if you see me next time, or make me say hi to you :P
i hope the folks who were at BOA had a great time too (i'm pretty sure they did) i wish these 2 events didn't coincide at the same time,so they could have enjoyed a wonderful night, but oh well there's always a next time. |

um...i love james zabiela.
that was perhaps the best set i've heard from him yet, even though i didn't stay till the end due to exhaustion. but holy , it was ass shakingly good. that papua new guinea remix was gorgeous.
too bad he was up in the booth...couldn't watch his "magic fingers" in action lol. did i actually just say that? oh yes, i did.
so glad i dragged myself out last night :D |
